Chapter 0116

ALLISON’S POV

“I wish I could just graduate without doing this,” Justin grumbles, dropping his head onto my

shoulder. “I’m tired.”

I shove him off with a glare, and he immediately retreats to his laptop.

He and Braydon are already buried in their thesis and capstone projects, and honestly, watching

them has been miserable.

Still, I’ve got it better than Katy. She looks about two tugs away from ripping her own hair out as

she helps Braydon with his capstone.

Justin closes his laptop with a groan. “Can we take a break?”

I drag my gaze back to him, shaking my head. “No.”

“Allison-”

“You have a month and two weeks before finals.” I remind him. “This needs to be done before that. ”

“I know, I know, but my brain is literally on fire.”

“Justin.” Katy snaps at him and even makes me flinch. “Shut up.”

He blinks. “I’m just saying-”

“You’re distracting Braydon.” She looks up, and the expression on her face makes Justin press his lips together. “Sit there and type or I swear to God.”

“Yes ma’am.” Justin mutters and then leans over, dropping his voice to a whisper. “She’s terrifying.”

A laugh bubbles out of me before I can stop it, and his shoulders shake beside mine. I clap a hand over my mouth and luckily, Katy doesn’t look up.

She’s been running a tight ship and whenever she gets in this mood, it’s best to do everything to

avoid her wraith.

As I push Justin’s head towards the laptop, my phone buzzes against the couch and I pick it up.

JESSY: come to the bar. I have gossip.

I start typing a response back hen Justin’s chin appears over my shoulder.

“Who’s texting us?” He asks.

“It’s Jessy.” I flip the screen toward him just to cut the interrogation short. “He wants me to go to the bar.”

His lips twitch and I can tell he’s fighting a lot to say. “Don’t go. I have better gossip.”

“You don’t even know what his gossip is about.” I counter, a smirk tugging at my lips.

“Doesn’t matter.” He rolls his eyes, suddenly trying to act nonchalant. “Mine’s still better.”

I lean into him. “You’re jealous.”

“I’m not jealous.” He says, nudging me away. “Jessy is gay, Allison. What exactly am I supposed to be jealous of?”

“Not of Jessy.” I rest my chin in my hand, watching him. “Of the fact that he gets to pull me away and we can spend time together.”

His mouth opens and something flickers across his face, half annoyance, and half amusement. He’s drawing in a breath to say something when my phone lights up against the couch, buzzing with an incoming call.

I check the screen and stand. “Give me a min.”

I can feel his eyes on my back as I cross to the far end of the room, pressing the phone to my ear.

“Allison Carter?”

I pull the phone from my ear to double check the name on the screen and it’s the on set director for the skincare campaign.

“Sandra, hi…yes, I’m here.”

“How are you doing?”

“I’m good. I’m great, actually. How are you?”

I start sweating, my mind trying to come up with different reasons she might have called. None of them are good anyway.
