Chapter 163
SLOANE’S POINT OF VIEW.
361%
I sat at the edge of my bedroom window, my gaze zeroed in on the spot where Lien’s car had been not too long ago. My hands shook and trembled against my skin as I tried to rein in my breathing. The aftermath of the discovery about my possible engagement to Killian still left me feeling floored. All I wanted to do was scream, but Lucien had assured me that he would take care of it.
Even at that, I could not shake the feeling of fear and dread in the lower parts of my belly. It felt like tonight would bring something horrible upon us. The rain droplets grew heavier, shaking the window where I sat, and enveloping the room with cold.
I wrapped my blanket around me and tried to burrow myself into it. If I could hide in it til all this passed, I would be so freaking grateful. I’d like to convince myself that Lucien would not do anything crazy, that he would just speak to Killian civilly, and nothing crazy would result or ensue from their meeting tonight….But I knew my boyfriend well enough to understand that shit would hit the fan.
“Please, be okay, Lucien,” I whispered into the dark, clutching the edges of the thick, soft blanket tighter as I buried my face into my thighs. My hands wouldn’t stop trembling, no matter how much I stilled them, or tried to reduce the pounding sound of my heartbeat in my ears, or the taste of blood in the
back of my throat as I tried to calm myself.
The silence in the room felt like the seconds before the sting of a scorpion, or the tension before lightning would strike, and I would be engulfed in
darkness.
Before I could even think positive thoughts, my phone dinged from the bedside table. So I got up and picked it. The brightness of it against my face in the dark room stung, but I pushed and scrolled to the notification bar.
Amara’s name flashed across the screen beside her text.
‘Sloane!!! Don’t check your Instagram or the internet, no matter what! I’m on my way.’
I frowned at the sight of it. Was Amara feeling okay?
ME- What do you mean?
Before I could hit send, Lucien’s name blared on the screen under the emergency section. With a frown, I swiped to the right and placed the phone to my
ear.
“Hel-”
“Sloane! Do not check the internet. Just don’t even log onto your social media, I take care of everything, I swear to you.” He rushed out, his voice dripping
with panic, and he sounded out of breath, like he was running. The next thing I Heard was the sound of a door slamming, followed by the ignition coming
“Lucien… what are you talking about?” I asked, as my hands trembled again, this time, they were also sweaty and clammy, as I tried not to let the panic
engulf me again.
“Just trust me,
and don’t check your internet. I’ll be at yours soon.” He said and ung up.
My phone buzzed with different messages and notifications, piquing my curiosity as I stared at my phone with the need to see just what the hell this was
about.
Why are Amara and Lucien telling me to get off my phone? What could have happened?
Before I could say anything, or hell, think of anything, my phone buzzes again, but this time, it’s with a name I’d never registered on my phone…

Chapter 163
KILLIAN: Hey, baby…I finally did what you asked for. I told everyone about us….d now, no one can keep us separated, ever again.
What the fuck?!
ME: What the hell are you talking about? What was that stunt with the engagement? How could you betray Lucien like that?
KILLIAN: I see we’re still playing this game.
61%
He replied, a smiley face emoji beside it, before he typed again;
KILLIAN: I’ll humour you, baby. But know this, I’m not waiting any longer. We’re gonna finally be together, the way we wanted all this time. I’ll leave the
girls, and you’ll leave Lucien. Deal?
ME: You’re a sick bastard. I have no idea what the hell you’re talking about, you pol!
The bubbles appeared again, but before I could check to see if the idiot had replied, my door slammed open violently, hitting the wall hard.
“What the hell?!” I exclaimed, my head snapping up abruptly to see who the hellt was.
My dad barged into the room with a worried look on his face, but beneath that worry, I could see confusion in his blue eyes. “Sloane, get off the phone.”
“Why the fuck is everyone telling me to do that?!” I yelled, exasperated. Hell, if they kept telling me to do that, I’ll fucking log onto my internet and see
what the hell they’re on about.
“Just trust me, and drop the phone.” He said, walking towards me slowly, his eyes guarded, and before I knew it, he grabbed my phone from my hands.
“What the fuck?! Dad?!”
“Just trust me, Sloanie. This is for your good.” He said, his eyes sad, as he tucked my phone into his pocket. “You shouldn’t go to school tomorrow either.”
“Why? Will someone tell me what’s going on?” I asked for the..I don’t even know anymore. I was already exhausted from all this.
Before he could say anything else, a maid knocked softly on the door, drawing ou attention to her. “Sorry to bother.” She said, her voice low as she avoided our gaze, her eyes fixed to the floor. “A man named Lucien says he’s here to see Miss Sloane.”
