Chapter 172
LUCIEN’S POINT OF VIEW.
X61%
The sight of her pink jeep speeding towards me sent me into a panicked frenzy as I rose to my feet and walked towards the driveway. Before I could even blink, Sloane parked her car, hopped out in less than a few seconds, and rushed towards me.
The first thing I saw as she ran towards me was her panicked state, her wild hair and the way she trembled like she’d been exposed to cold. We were in the middle of summer…no one was feeling cold at this moment. My mind drifted to the sound of her wince while we were on the phone a couple of minutes ago, and my eyes involuntarily ran over her entire body.
I looked at her clearly, looking for anything off. Her hair was wild and unruly, he clothes looked like they’d been roughed up by someone, her skirt looked off as well… basically, she didn’t look okay.
My hands twitched in my pockets before I removed them and ran up to meet her halfway.
“Sloane, what the hell happened to you?” I asked, grabbing her by her forearms, but before my hands could even settle on them, she visibly winced and shivered at the slight contact. “What….what is it?” I blinked in confusion.
She smiled hesitantly at me and grabbed my hand wordlessly. “We need to go inside. I don’t know if I was tailed on the way here.” She said, her tone still as
frantic as before.
“Tailed? What do you mean?” I asked. Was that why she keeps looking around us as though she were searching for something….or someone? ‘Sloane, talk to
“Nothing happened.” She said, and I fixed her with a deadpan look.
“Don’t lie to me, Sloane.” I knew when she was lying, so why does she ever bother trying to? “Did he touch you?” I swear if he fucking did, I’ll kill him.
SLOANE’S POINT OF VIEW.
“He really didn’t, I’m not-” I was saying, but stopped as he tilted my chin up. My breath hitched as his thumb brushed the side of my face, tracing the faint mark Killian’s hand had left on my jaw. His eyes burned when he saw it, and I know there was nothing I could say or do to stop him.
Killian was a dead guy walking.
“Sloane,” he said, my name coming through his lips like he was holding onto the edge of something. I caught the way his jaw clenched as his eyes darkened, and I gulped. “You don’t lie to me. Not about something like this.”
The lump in my throat cracked open, and I knew there was nothing I could say odo; Lucien would pull the words from my lips no matter what. I shook my head, blinking fast to fight the tears threatening to spill, but it wasn’t enough beause the tears still came. “I didn’t want to make it worse,” I said, my voice trembling, as I winced at the pain in my arms. “We just need to think. We have to get that video before he-”
“Before he what?” Lucien cut in, his tone lowering dangerously. “Because I guarantee he won’t be able to do any fucking thing”
“Lucien,” I whispered his name so it could ground him, but it didn’t. His chest te and fell with every furious breath he took; his knuckles were white as he clenched his fists. The rage in him wasn’t loud, it was contained, like it was simmering, and that was worse, because that was the version of Lucien that scared people.
And the version that scared me for him, because in this state, Lucien would do a thing without giving a fuck about the consequences.
“I can’t let you go after him,” I said quickly, grabbing his arm to make him see reson. “If you do, he’ll leak it. He’ll ruin everything.” I swallowed hard as my tears spilt down my cheeks at the palpable fear in my heart. “Lucien, what if he made copies of it? What if he’s on the way to reveal everything by leaking

it to the press as we speak? I’ll be ruined!”

“Let me?” He repeated it softly, like the thought of it was an insult to him. He then turned to face me fully, and the look in his eyes… it scared me, because all I could see in those blue orbs was fire and restraint and something almost he tbreakingly dangerous. “You think I need permission to handle the bastard who laid a hand on you? Who has you looking like you’d just seen a fucking gho? I’ll fucking kill him.”
“I’m serious, Lucien!” I snapped, my voice cracking under the weight of my fear, and I couldn’t even fucking stop the tremble in my hands. “If you touch him, he’ll make sure everyone sees it. I’m sure he made copies. I can’t-” I sobbed into my hands, no longer being able to take it. “He said I should break up with you, you know? That if I did, he would not release it, as long as I dated him instead as well.”
He moved closer, closing the distance between us until my back met the side of my car. His hand came up, cupping the back of my neck, forcing me to look at him. His thumb brushed the edge of my jaw like he was memorising the damage Killian had caused.
“Look at me, Sloane.” He whispered, his voice low, and much calmer now, but I couldn’t. All I could think about was what would happen if that video got
out, what it would do to dad, and his company, to mom.
“Lucien….I can’t take it.” I cried into his chest, and the sound of my sobs filled the quiet space. “What am I going to do?”
“This isn’t your fight alone. I’ll take care of it.” He said, caressing my head as he kissed it. I pilled back with a frown, and looked up at him regardless of my tear-stained cheeks. He didn’t break eye contact with me for a second.
“What are you going to do, Lucien?”
“Something I should have done last night instead.” He said, and an ominous feeling washed over me.
“Lucien….don’t”
“Don’t what.” He asked, his voice turning darker.”Don’t crush the bastard who hurt you like this? No, Sloane. I’m afraid no one can save him from me, not
even his dead fuckin father.”
“Okay, but please….Don’t lose control.” I pleaded, whispering to him.
“Control?” He chuckled like it was a funny absurdity. “That’s the problem, Sloane I lost control a long time ago.” He kissed my forehead and whispered.
“Stay here.”
And before I knew it, he pulled away from me, forcing me to lose the warmth heave. I watched him go back as he walked over to his bike and zoomed off The last thing I heard was the loud roar of his Harley engine as he zoomed off.
