CHAPTER 105
MON
I closed my laptop after fifty-two minutes.
Jamie checked her watch.
“Seven minutes early. I’m impressed.”
“One of the investors started repeating a question you’d already answered in the memo. I took it as a sign from the universe.”
“To end a multimillion-dollar meeting?”
“Even billionaires need to recognize when they’re interfering with my sex life.”
She nearly choked on her coffee.
The jet had leveled out above the clouds. The quiet cabin felt cut off from the rest of the world. The flight attendant had disappeared behind the partition, and the pilot had announced we had more than nine hours left before Honolulu.
Jamie stretched her legs out on the sofa and opened a folder.
“Now I need to review the revisions.”
I took it out of her hands.
“No, you don’t.”
“Simon.”
“My general counsel has worked until midnight every night this week.”
“And my CEO really wants to close a nine-figure deal.”
“My CEO?”
“Don’t get excited.”
“Too late.”
I set the folder on the table and sat beside her. Jamie pretended to study the clouds outside the window, but I felt her pulse jump when I ran my thumb over the inside of her wrist.
“Tired?” I asked.
“A little.”
“The bedroom’s comfortable.”
“You said it was for sleeping.”

“And I remain fully willing to lie down with you for the entire process.”
e turned to look at me.
“It’s only been a few hours since the last time.”
“We don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.”
I kissed the corner of her mouth. Nothing more. Just a brief touch that made her eyes close before she could hide the reaction.
“What if I say I want to sleep?” she asked.
“I sleep with you.”
“And if I say I want to work?”
“I complain about it, then work with you.”
“And if I say I want something else?”
I slid my hand behind her neck.
“Then you’re going to have to be more specific. I’m a very literal man.”
She kissed me.
No hesitation. Jamie caught my tie and pulled me toward her until I was over her on the sofa. Her mouth tasted like coffee and trouble. My hand traced the side of her body, found the hem of her skirt, and moved up her bare thigh.
“Specific enough?” she murmured.
“I’m beginning to understand.”
I lifted her into my arms. Jamie wrapped her legs around my waist, muffling a laugh against my neck.
“If you drop me, I’m suing you.”
“If I drop you, I’ll give you the company in the settlement.”
“I don’t want the company. I want you.”
I carried her into the bedroom and kicked the door shut behind us. The bed took up almost the entire space. I lowered Jamie onto the mattress, and she started undoing the buttons of my shirt while I slipped off her shoes.
“This is ridiculously luxurious,” she said.
“The bed?”
“Having a bedroom on an airplane.”
“I can have them install a desk, since apparently office furniture is our favorite kink.”

“Don’t you dare.”
e almost smiled as she pushed my shirt off my shoulders. Then her mouth touched my chest, and every clever response disappeared from my head. I threaded my fingers into her hair and drew a slow breath.
“I had a plan,” I said.
“You always do.”
“It involved taking this slow.”
Jamie opened my belt.
“Legal rejected the plan.”
I laughed and turned her onto her stomach. Her laughter faded when I lowered the zipper of her dress and kissed the newly exposed line of her spine. I eased the fabric from her shoulders, trailing my mouth down toward the curve of her waist.
“Simon…”
“Tell me if you want me to stop.”
“You ask that at the worst possible times.”
She looked back at me, dark eyes fixed on mine.
“Don’t stop.”
I slipped the dress off her. The black lingerie underneath was the same set I’d packed in her suitcase without permission and subsequently had thrown at my head.
“So you brought it.”
I kissed my way along the inside of her thigh until her fingers tightened in the sheets. I moved the lace aside and put my mouth on her, slow at first, then finding the rhythm that made Jamie lose all interest in arguing with me. The jet hit a patch of mild turbulence. She gasped and grabbed my hair.
“Think we caused that?”
“I’m going to need to repeat the experiment.”
She dragged me back up before I could finish. I pulled a condom from my pocket and shoved my pants down.
I entered her slowly. Jamie caught her breath, fingers digging into my shoulders. I stayed still until her eyes opened.
“You okay?”
“Perfect.” She rolled her hips. “Now stop talking.”
For once that day, I obeyed.

The bed was narrow, the ceiling low, the steady drone of the engines all around us. None of it mattered. Nothing diluted the feeling of being inside her, hearing my name break apart on her lips, knowing there was no contract no family pressure, no excuse standing between us anymore. When Jamie came, she locked her legs around my waist and kissed me as if some part of her still feared I might disappear.
I followed soon after, burying my face against her neck.
We stayed there afterward, our breathing tangled together, clothes scattered across the tiny bedroom of a plane thousands of feet above the ground.
“Is dating always like this?” she asked.
“With me, yes.”
“Your track record with serious relationships is questionable.”
“My track record with you is extensive.”
Jamie smiled against my chest. Silence settled over us for a few minutes.
“Simon?”
“Hmm?”
“Everything’s moving fast.”
My hand stilled on her back.
“Do you regret it?”
