FAKE DATING WITH BENEFITS MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS (Ophelia Corrigan) novel Chapter 109

CHAPTER 109

MON

Chloe sat up straight when she realized I was watching her through the screen.

“The kids need to go to bed,” she said quickly. “It’s past their bedtime here.”

“Two more minutes,” Jamie asked.

She sat down next to me on the sand and showed the ring again. Lily wanted to know if she’d be a bridesmaid. Sam wanted a five-tier cake. Jack asked if a wedding in Hawaii meant he could skip school.

“The wedding isn’t tomorrow,” Jamie explained.

“Why not?” Lily made a face. “He already proposed.”

“Because adults complicate simple things,” I answered.

Jamie poked my ribs.

“Because we want to plan the party details, princess.”

When we hung up, Jamie kept staring at the dark screen. I put my arm around her.

“Regretting it?”

“Are you going to ask me that every five minutes?”

“For the next twenty-four hours. Then I’ll scale back to once a day.”

We smiled at the same time.

We had dinner on the sand, though neither of us paid attention to the food. Jamie asked questions about timelines, the ceremony, the apartment, work. I answered all of them with the same truth: nothing had to change before she wanted it to.

“You’re not going to try to get me to stay at your penthouse when we get back?” she asked.

“I’m not going to lie. I really want you there. But I want you to choose to move on your own.”

She liked that answer. Enough that she smiled.

“Thank you, baby.”

In the suite, there was champagne, flowers, and a row of freshly printed photographs on the table. The kind of courtesy that only exists in six-star hotels. Jamie picked one up where I was still on one knee. She had her hand over her mouth and tears on her face.

“My mom’s probably going to lose it when she finds out we’re actually engaged this time.”

“The real question is: will anyone believe us this time?”

“Me? Maybe. You?” She looked at my nose. “I don’t know, Pinocchio.”

unny. If I remember correctly, you lied right along with me.”

“Yeah, but let’s be honest, you had way more experience than me.”

“Look how things turn out.”

She laughed and put the photo back. When she turned around, the joy on her face had changed.

“Close the door,” she said.

I obeyed.

Jamie took off her shoes without looking away from me. Then she reached for the zipper on her dress.

I crossed the room, held the back of her neck, and kissed her. Jamie let out a laugh against my mouth when I lifted her and sat her on the table. The photographs scattered across the floor.

I kissed her neck, her collarbone, the skin over her racing heart. She unbuttoned my shirt and ran her hands over my chest.

“Slow,” she said.

The word stopped me.

I looked at her.

“You okay?”

Jamie touched my face.

“I am. I just want to remember this night forever.”

So I went slow.

I took the dress off completely and carried her to the bedroom. Laid her on the white sheets, removed each piece like I was undoing an old, bad promise. I kissed the finger where the ring sparkled before I opened her legs.

“You did that on purpose,” she said, looking at the stone.

“Did what?”

“Chose a ring I can’t lose sight of while you…”

My mouth made her forget the rest. Jamie arched her body and grabbed my hair. I tasted her slowly, paying attention to every shudder, every held breath, until she lost patience and pulled me up.

“Now.”

“I thought you wanted slow.”

“I amended the clause.”

“Amendment approved.”

ut on a condom and entered her carefully. Jamie’s gaze stayed locked on mine. There was no urgency to hide, no kids in the hallway, no clock. Just the ocean outside the window and her body opening for me.

“My fiancée,” I said against her mouth.

She shivered.

“Say it again.”

“My fiancée.”

Jamie locked her legs around my waist. The rhythm built, but it didn’t break the connection. When she came, she said my name and then the word yes, like she was still answering. I lost control right after.

We stayed tangled together, sweaty and breathless. I ran my fingers through her hair.

She raised her hand between us and looked at the ring.

“Simon, don’t tell anyone at the company yet.”

“Anyone?”

“I want to tell my parents before everyone knows.”

“Of course.”

I kissed her hand. Jamie closed her eyes and fell asleep not long after.

I stayed there, with the weight of her body against mine, and I couldn’t sleep. Didn’t want to. I ran my fingers through Jamie’s hair, slowly, twisting the damp ends, letting go, repeating. She murmured something I didn’t catch and nestled closer.
