It was easy. They quickly rekindled their old flame.
Unfortunately, after she had left him all those years ago, a heartbroken Martin had agreed to an arranged marriage and had a child even before she did.
With Martin back in her life, Sabrina's days became much more comfortable. She had a place to live, a powerful man to rely on, and Bella had access to better education.
The only thing Martin couldn't give her was marriage.
Several years passed, and she still hadn't been given a real home by Martin. She started to grow impatient.
Getting Eleanor's contact information from Martin was laughably easy; he had no defenses against her.
From then on, she began to provoke Eleanor in various ways. At first, Eleanor ignored her, but eventually, she couldn't take it anymore, culminating in the day she caught them in bed together.
She clearly remembered Eleanor bringing Martin's youngest daughter with her.
Sabrina had once seen a picture of the little girl and praised her beauty to Martin.
But seeing her in person for the first time, Sabrina realized the girl's eyes, when they glared with fury, could practically burn holes through a person.
At that moment, Sabrina thought to herself that a girl with such a commanding presence at such a young age would surely grow up to be a formidable figure.
She recalled Martin saying his youngest daughter was raised by his mother and his wife.
His mother had been widowed young and took over her husband's company, a steely, iron-fisted businesswoman. She had only softened after handing the reins to Martin, but her word was still law.
His wife, Eleanor Lancaster, was the epitome of a gentle, well-educated woman.
