She looked at Sebastian’s face again, at the desperate plea in his eyes.
How could this be?
Back when they were married, he had been remarkably cold in that department.
And now, they had been officially divorced for a year.
She was certain that, loving Bella as he did, he would have been overjoyed to get his hands on the divorce papers she had signed—especially since she’d walked away with nothing. He would have finalized it without a moment's hesitation.
They were divorced. What kind of game was he playing now?
Have another daughter?
She thought about her son.
Noah, the boy she had cherished and raised, only had eyes for his father. After what happened two years ago, he hadn't even called her 'Mom.'
He had explicitly said he didn't want her as a mother, begging for that homewrecker, Bella, to take her place.
Lillian snapped, “Sebastian, are you insane!”
With that, she turned and left without a backward glance.
Right now, the only thing she wanted was to see her mother and her grandmother.
But when she returned home, she overheard Sabrina Ward comforting Bella. “Bella, just bear with it. The child’s life is at stake. We can only blame this cruel twist of fate.
“There’s no other way around this hurdle. We have to prioritize the child. You love Noah so much, you can’t possibly...”
Before Sabrina could finish, the housekeeper announced, “Ma’am, you’re back.”
Both Sabrina and Bella looked over.
Sabrina’s heart leaped into her throat. Meeting Lillian’s gaze, she looked away guiltily.
Martin sounded surprised. “Lillian, didn’t you go to the hotel with Sebastian? Why are you back?”
“I came back to get some things. I’m going to the psychiatric hospital and the nursing home.”
Bella walked over, and Lillian could clearly see her eyes were red and puffy, as if she had just been crying.
But Bella maintained her usual serene and gentle demeanor. “Let me arrange for someone to go with you.”
Lillian frowned slightly and brushed past her shoulder. “Don’t trouble yourself.”
She hadn't understood Sebastian’s behavior before, but now, it was painfully clear.
So, that was it...
She admitted there was a stubborn, prideful part of her that had accepted the prison sentence.
In the beginning, she had hoped Sebastian would regret his decision and come to get her out.
But as time wore on, her heart grew cold.
Now that she was finally out, she had allowed a flicker of hope to ignite, only to realize she was just a tool to be used.
Just then, Sebastian rushed in. Seeing the expressions on everyone's faces, he gently reached for Lillian's arm.
He tried to soothe her, “If you’re not comfortable with this, we can take our time.”
She violently shook off his hand and turned to face him.
Her eyes were colder than he had ever seen them before.
“Sebastian, tell me. What do you need a baby?”
