Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 479

“Vivienne, do you even hear yourself right now?”

Emilia’s voice was calm as she fixed her gaze on Vivienne from across the room.

She knew exactly what Vivienne was trying to pull.

But no matter how carefully Vivienne plotted, there was one thing she could never account for: a lie will always be a lie.

The place was packed, a sea of murmuring faces, all eyes drawn to Vivienne, who stood frozen in the middle of it all.

Vivienne stumbled back a step or two, shaking her head in denial. “No! You’re not Emy! Emilia, why are you pretending to be her?”

Her voice rose to a shrill pitch. “What have you done with Emy? What did you do to her?”

But Emilia just laughed softly.

“If I’m not Emy, then who is?” she asked, her tone almost teasing. “Your live stream tonight is the talk of the town. If I really were an imposter, why wouldn’t the real Emy show up and expose me?”

Emilia smiled, pulling out a second phone and unlocking it as she spoke.

“Vivienne, didn’t you say you two were close? Best friends, always there for each other? Surely you’d know what she looks like. You must have pictures of her—or at least one of you together.”

She turned to the camera, addressing the audience directly. “Go ahead, Vivienne. Prove Emy is someone else. Show us.”

Vivienne opened her mouth to object—of course she’d seen Emy before! But as she desperately ran through her memories of their meetings, she realized…

The first time, Emy was hidden behind sunglasses, a face mask, and a baseball cap. The second time, she was dressed in a full-on frog mascot costume. The last time, she’d been in heavy stage makeup and a costume, her features completely disguised.

And every time, her voice had been deep and hoarse, impossible to recognize.

Vivienne stared at the screen, disbelief etched across her face.

Could it be… could Emy really be Emilia?

Impossible.

Impossible!—That same thought flashed through the minds of everyone watching.

People had always thought Emy’s singing sounded a lot like Emilia’s. Back when the remastered version of Faint Whispers came out, Vivienne had added Emy as a feature, which gave everyone the impression that Emy was a shameless opportunist, always riding Emilia’s coattails.

So everyone assumed Emy was just imitating Emilia.

But now…

As the debate reached a fever pitch, everyone watched as Emilia, still on the livestream, snapped a selfie with her phone.

Moments later, anyone following Emy’s account saw a new post pop up.

Emy: Hi everyone, it’s time for a formal introduction. I’m Emy—and I’m also Emilia.

Attached were two images.

The first was Emilia’s just-taken selfie, her face in full view.

The second was a contract: a non-disclosure agreement between Emilia and Donovan Entertainment, clearly stating that Emilia had been performing under the stage name Emy, and that both parties were to keep it confidential.
