The clouds drifted quickly across the sky.
Time passed slowly.
Emilia was getting better day by day.
The date of her concert was drawing closer.
For the past few days, Theodore had spent every night with Emilia, holding her as they slept.
At first, Emilia's body would still be stiff, but gradually, she seemed to have grown used to his presence.
The number of times she woke up startled during the night had also decreased.
Although the knot in her heart hadn't completely untied, it was like a wound on her body, slowly forming a scab, waiting for new flesh to grow and fill the scar until it finally disappeared.
This morning, Emilia was dressed and ready early, having breakfast with Bella.
Theodore sat beside her, watching her.
“I’m taking Bella to preschool today,” Emilia said as she wiped Bella’s hands.
She had been at home for many days. With the concert coming up, she would have to face many, many people. She couldn't keep hiding away at home.
Taking Bella to preschool was the first step she had to take.
Theodore looked at her, his eyes full of concern, but he didn't object.
“Okay,” he said. “I’ll go with you.”
Emilia looked up. This was what she liked most about Theodore.
He always seemed to understand what she was thinking, knew her worries, and understood her intentions.
He never used the excuse of “it’s for your own good.” Instead, he respected her decisions and did his best to help her.
Emilia lowered her gaze slightly and saw Bella’s big, curious eyes looking up at them.
Emilia smiled and gently poked Bella’s chubby cheeks.
Bella grinned back.
It was an adorable sight.
Sunlight slanted in, casting a warm glow on them and projecting the shadows of the three of them onto the wall.
They looked so close.
Soon, breakfast was over. Theodore picked up Bella's small backpack, took Emilia's hand, and they walked out of the house and got into the car.
They drove all the way to the preschool.
The car came to a stop.
