Felix lowered his gaze. Perfect.
He knew back then that it would be impossible to leave no trace, so he'd deliberately made a mess of the place and taken other items to create a false trail.
He wanted to keep them from figuring out what he was really after.
After all, that records room didn't just contain Vivienne's file; it also held files on other people, as well as some confidential documents.
"Felix, this wasn't you, was it?" the person on the phone asked, choosing their words carefully. "You've been going over there a lot these past few days."
Felix chuckled. "What are you talking about? I only learned about this organization on this trip, and it's not like they wouldn't let me look around. Why would I need to do that?"
Suspicion was one thing, but without proof, it wasn't him.
He had prepared for a long time, avoiding all the security cameras.
Even though he'd been injured, he hadn't left any blood at the scene.
Thinking of that, Felix glanced at his arm, where there was a fresh cut.
After a few more words, Felix hung up.
He was basically safe now.
The roads would be under tight control, so he needed to lie low for a night. Once it was fully light out, the contact he'd arranged for would come to pick him up.
At that thought, Felix felt a sense of calm settle over him.
He looked at the file.
He had to tell Emilia!
Emilia would be so happy!
Felix suddenly missed Emilia intensely.
He had been out of the country for a while. He wondered how she had been doing during this time.
Calculating the time difference, it should be evening back home, but she probably wasn't asleep yet.
With that in mind, Felix called Emilia.
However, the phone rang for a long time without anyone answering.
Felix was puzzled.
Just as the ringing was about to stop, the call was finally picked up.
"Felix?" A man's voice came through.
Felix frowned slightly. "Theodore?"
