Tyler thought Vivienne was up to her usual tricks again.
But what he heard in response was a notification from his phone.
And Israelsaying, "Mr. Erickson, I've sent you the link to the post. Someone online leaked several photos of Miss Dennis in critical condition!"
Tyler immediately hung up and opened his message chat with Israel.
There was a link. Tyler's hand holding the phone was trembling.
He took a deep breath and tapped the link.
The page loaded instantly.
And then, he saw the three pictures.
His phone buzzed again. It was Israel, sending him the images that someone with quick reflexes had saved, which he had just managed to get his hands on.
Three images.
A critical condition notice.
Two shocking photos.
Tyler's hand holding the phone was shaking violently.
She was in critical condition... She had lost so much blood...
He remembered she had a rare blood type. Would she be alright?
What on earth had happened?
When did this happen?
Why didn't he have any memory of it? Why didn't he know anything?
The critical condition notice...
Emilia and Paisley didn't have a good relationship.
A few months ago, even during their cooling-off period before the divorce, he was still Emilia's husband.
So, if there was a critical condition notice, he should have been the one to sign it. But he had no memory of ever signing one.
Tyler snapped.
He immediately called Israel.
Israel answered instantly. "Mr. Erickson."
"Investigate!" Tyler's voice was trembling. "Find out what the hell is going on!"
Joyce scoffed and then answered the call.
"Joyce, did you see the pictures of Emilia online?" Tyler's urgent voice came through as soon as the call connected.
"I saw them." Joyce's voice was perfectly calm.
"What happened to Emilia? Is she... what's wrong?" Tyler pressed.
Joyce was at the venue, also there for the concert.
Remembering everything from that time filled her with hatred.
She hated herself, she hated Vivienne, and she hated Tyler.
She hated herself for fighting with Vivienne and getting Emilia involved.
She hated Vivienne's hypocrisy and for hurting Emilia.
But most of all, she hated Tyler for pushing Emilia down the stairs, for walking away without a single glance back, for being with Vivienne and not answering his phone when they needed him to sign the critical condition notice, and for not even visiting Emilia in all the days that followed!
When she saw the post and then Tyler's call, she knew exactly what he wanted to ask.
So, she answered the phone.
