Israel's phone suddenly vibrated. He answered the call and listened to the latest update on the riot.
"I'm going to take my grandparents home first," Chloe told him, pausing for a moment. "Come find me when you're done dealing with this. I need to talk to you."
Israel nodded, promising to meet her later.
Once Chloe and her grandparents left, Israel marched straight to Vivienne's hospital room.
The second he pushed the door open, Vivienne scrambled to hide her phone under the blankets.
Israel didn't play games. He lunged forward and ripped the phone right out of her hands.
"What the hell are you doing?! Give that back!" Vivienne shrieked.
Israel signaled his security detail, and two men immediately pinned Vivienne to the mattress.
Scrolling through her screen, Israel found all the burner accounts she had been using to incite the mob.
"Are you completely out of your mind?! People could have died tonight!" Israel roared, his voice shaking with fury. "They had chainsaws! You watched it happen live!"
The reality of the situation was horrifying. One wrong move in that crowd, and it would have been a massacre.
"Why should I care? If they want to kill each other, that's their problem! Give me my phone!" Vivienne spat.
She was livid that her hired hitman hadn't managed to get to the caregiver. The cops had raided the place way too fast, hauling the caregiver off to the precinct to give a statement. Her perfect window of opportunity was gone.
Listening to her absolute lack of empathy, Israel felt a suffocating wave of despair.
"Their problem?!" Israel shoved the screen in her face. "They were out there risking prison for you!"
"Vivienne, if a single person died tonight, their blood would be on your hands!"
Vivienne just rolled her eyes. "Well, nobody died, did they?"
She was just pissed that her fans had turned on each other instead of tearing the caregiver apart.
Outside the police station, reporters were aggressively shoving microphones into the faces of exhausted parents leaving the building.
Most of the families hid their faces and refused to comment, but a few were too furious to stay quiet.
"What is wrong with these kids?! All they do is stare at their phones and worship that Vivienne!" one father yelled into a camera.
"My daughter wouldn't shut up about how sweet and innocent Vivienne is! Well, where the hell is Vivienne now?!"
"This is psycho behavior! She brainwashed my son!"
The parents had been holding back their terror and rage all night, and the dam finally broke. They unleashed a torrent of fury directly at Vivienne.
"That girl does nothing but spread toxic garbage online! My kid had a bright future, and she turned him into a criminal!"
Other parents in the crowd heard the shouting and immediately rallied around the cameras, nodding in furious agreement. They were all victims of the same manipulation, sharing the exact same burning resentment.
And right at that explosive moment, a police cruiser pulled up, and Vivienne was escorted out.
