Emilia and Tara nodded in agreement.

The group exchanged a few more corporate pleasantries before going their separate ways.

But Emilia didn't go far.

She stood discretely off to the side, waiting.

A few minutes later, Ray came jogging over.

"Emilia!" Ray gasped, out of breath.

"Take your time. Catch your breath first," Emilia instructed calmly.

Ray nodded, taking a moment to stabilize her breathing before speaking. "I did exactly what you asked. I kept an eye on that intern who was getting chewed out."

Emilia nodded, signaling her to continue.

"He looked absolutely devastated. I waited until his manager walked away, then I cornered him and asked what happened."

"He told me he screwed up the scheduling and accidentally lumped the VIPs in with the general admissions."

Emilia nodded, her expression calculating.

"But he actually showed me the original text message his manager sent him," Ray said, looking intently at Emilia. "I saw it with my own eyes. The explicit instructions were to mix the general crowd in with the VIPs, creating a deliberate bottleneck so Caleb could pull the heavy hitters aside for 'exclusive' meetings."

It made sense. People like Julian and Tara hadn't stormed out because they felt special being 'rescued' from the mob.

But a normal company dealing with overbooking would simply cancel the lower-tier appointments to accommodate the elite.

Caleb specifically orchestrated the chaos.

Julian had even commented on it on their way out.

"Maybe he's just afraid of burning bridges. Caleb strikes me as a slick operator." That was Julian's exact assessment.

Emilia had remained entirely unconvinced.

She thought for a moment, then leaned in and whispered a new set of instructions to Ray.

"I'm on it," Ray agreed instantly.

Emilia watched her assistant hurry off. Then, she walked back to her car.

She kicked off her designer heels, swapping them for comfortable flats. She slipped into a generic, oversized jacket and pulled a baseball cap low over her face.

Fully disguised, she stepped back out of the car.

She headed straight back into Aegis Dynamics.
