Chapter 250 The Heir’s Challenge
The dispute over the shares hadn’t erupted into an open family argument, but Sophia’s attitude to Caroline at home had been one of thinly–veiled hostility, expressed through both subtle jabs and c coldness.
Camellia and Jonathan’s father had repeatedly tried to talk sense into her, but Sophia was stubborn had already quarreled privately with various family members more than once.
The whole situation had cast a pall over the Foster household.
Christian was deeply distressed by the infighting, and the stress had nearly made him ill
“Mom, why don’t you move out for a while,” Isabelle suggested quietly.
Regina had gifted her over twenty properties–she could live anywhere in the city she wished.
Caroline had been considering the same thing. Regina had gently proposed it a few days prior, and Caroline was already making plans to do so.
“Alright.” Caroline nodded in agreement.
“As for the shares, I’ll talk to Grandpa about it later.” Isabelle couldn’t make a definitive decision on the either.
Everyone understood Christian’s heart in this–Caroline represented a lifetime of regret for him. This inheritance was his attempt at reconciliation.
Christian was supposed to attend today, but he hadn’t arrived yet.
“This whole situation is weighing heavily on your grandfather. I never wanted any part of this family’s wealth. If we can resolve it amicably, it will spare everyone a great deal of trouble.” Caroline gave Isabell hand a comforting pat.
“I know, Mom.”
“You should go now. Damian seems to be waiting for you.” Caroline glanced toward Damian, who stood chatting with Jonathan not far away.
Damian’s expression during the conversation was serious, but the look he sent Isabelle’s way remained as tender as ever.
They were likely discussing the same difficult family matter.
Though in truth, Damian wasn’t just waiting for her–he had a habit of keeping her within sight, as if he wished he could keep her in his pocket and take her everywhere
“Okay,” Isabelle replied.
Caroline then left to join Regina elsewhere on the lawn.

Isabelle didn’t immediately go to Damian. Instead, she settled onto one of the picnic blankets, enjoyin pastry Tiana had brought over.
“Isabelle.” The voice came from Sophia, who had approached from the side.
Isabelle offered a polite smile. “Sophia.”
Sophia wore a simple white sundress, her hair styled in soft waves that looked elegant and put–togethe
Only her vividly painted crimson nails seemed deliberately attention–grabbing, a stark contrast to the otherwise demure outfit.
“You really are just like your mother,” she said, a mocking smile playing on her lips that she made little effort to conceal.
Isabelle understood the insinuation behind “just like“, and her dislike for Sophia deepened another deg
She gave a light, humorless laugh and took a deliberate bite of her dessert. “The Fosters have always val grace and integrity. It’s a shame that particular trait seems to have skipped a generation.”
