“If you’ve got free time, why not go help my husband with something actually productive?” Isabelle glanced toward Damian, who hadn’t paused his work, then back at the overflowing fruit plate.

Brian set down the apple. “He dropped everything and rushed out as soon as you called yesterday. I’ve been picking up the pieces nonstop since then, even worked late into the night. Cut me some slack, will you?”

“Then why come here today instead of resting at home?” Isabelle asked, already knowing the

answer.

“You’re really something.” Brian gave her a look.

Did she really not get why he was here?

Isabelle smiled and sent Diana a quick text, asking when she’d arrive.

Diana replied that she was still overseeing the cleanup at the studio and would come later. She also sent a photo of her finger scratched by a loose nail, complaining about how chaotic everything was.

Her daughter was out of danger, but Isabelle was still confined to the hospital bed. The burn on her leg would likely leave a scar, and she wouldn’t be going home soon.

After tending to Abigail through the night, Regina had come to Isabelle’s room in the early hours and hadn’t slept at all. Even though the doctors assured her Isabelle was stable, she couldn’t shake the anxiety.

They chatted a while longer until two familiar figures appeared at the hospital room door.

The room was full of women, and they didn’t want to intrude in case Isabelle wasn’t up for visitors.

Regina and Caroline stood up, looking toward the two men.

“I’ll step out then. Call me if you need anything,” Regina said tactfully before slipping out.

Caroline walked her to the door, then invited the two men inside.

“Griffin, Collin, what brings you here?” Caroline asked warmly.

“We heard about what happened yesterday and wanted to see Isabelle today,” Collin said as he entered, his gaze briefly settling on Isabelle.

Without lingering too long, he placed the bouquet of tulips he’d brought on the side table. gently removed the flowers Damian had sent the day before, and replaced them with his own.
