“We should get going now,” Isabelle said, giving her hand a final, warm squeeze. “Be happy, okay?”

“I will!” Sienna replied, the blush on her cheeks deepening.

“Sienna, I should head out too–there’s some unfinished business I need to take care of,” Diana spoke up.

She had to go deal with that man from earlier.

Sienna understood immediately. If they needed to leave early, it was perfectly fine.

All that remained was the reception dinner anyway, nothing crucial.

After exchanging final goodbyes, Isabelle and Damian left, their fingers intertwined.

Diana and Brian followed close behind them.

Damian glanced back over his shoulder. “Need any help with your… situation?”

“No,” Brian refused politely but firmly.

If Damian got involved, the situation would escalate beyond proportion.

Besides, this was Brian’s chance to stand up for Diana–he wasn’t about to let another man handle her troubles.

“Alright then. Just let me know if anything comes up,” Damian said, tightening his arm around Isabelle as they walked toward the waiting car.

Isabelle secretly shot Diana an encouraging smile and a little wave.

Diana nodded in silent thanks.

And just like that, the two couples went their separate ways.

In the back of the luxury sedan, Isabelle leaned her head against Damian’s shoulder. “I thought you said you were leaving in a couple of days. Why the sudden change?”

“Things on the other side are moving faster than expected. I was supposed to go earlier, but I wanted to steal a few more days with you,” Damian admitted, pulling her closer into his side.

He had originally intended to commission a gown for Isabelle from the renowned designer Muddlehead–only to discover that Muddlehead was Isabelle herself.

That had certainly put him in an awkward position.

He didn’t share any of these details with Isabelle.

He’d wanted to have a few special pieces made for her for a long time but never found the right opportunity or artist.

“What am I going to do? I miss you already,” Isabelle murmured, burrowing deeper into the warmth of his embrace.

Damian’s lips curved into a satisfied smile.

He’d never seen her act so openly clingy before.

In her world, Damian had never seemed to be the absolute priority–at least not in the past.

Her design work always came first, with Damian a close but definite second. She was the type who could become immersed in a sketch until the early hours, completely forgetting she had a husband waiting for her in bed.

But somewhere along the line, she’d started to lean on him more and more.

Damian had become the man who occupied her heart.

He was more than pleased with Isabelle’s current demeanor and this shift in her.

“If you miss me, you’ll just have to endure it–and don’t go getting any independent ideas,” he said, his voice a low, husky rumble near her ear, his hand giving her waist a gentle, possessive squeeze.

Isabelle knew exactly what he was implying. She shifted, climbing over to settle herself comfortably in his lap.

Damian swallowed hard, a soft, stifled groan escaping him.

“What’s this? Can’t wait?”

His gaze burned with a heat that seemed ready to ignite the very air between them.

Isabelle’s eyes were soft, luminous pools fixed intently on his face. The deep affection in her gaze was completely unveiled now—it rolled over him like a powerful tide, fierce and overwhelming.
