She wasn’t familiar with the medical centers in the Fertitta City, so she pulled up directly in front of the Emergency Department entrance and hurried inside to call for help.

“Mrs. Cross.” A somewhat familiar, slightly breathless voice stopped her.

Isabelle turned and saw it was Bruce Eastwood, one of the security personnel from their household staff.

What a surprise running into him here.

He was slightly out of breath, a fine sheen of sweat on his forehead. “Please wait here. I’ll take care of this.”

“Huh?”

Isabelle was taken aback. Before she could process it, Bruce was already speaking with the triage nurses.

She took a moment to collect herself, watching as Bruce efficiently took charge.

He opened the passenger door where Collin was seated.

Collin was also visibly stunned for a few seconds.

“Mr. Dorfman, I’m part of Mrs. Cross‘ security detail. Please bear with me for a moment.” Bruce leaned in politely to unbuckle the seatbelt.

Collin leaned back slightly, a frown creasing his brow, his expression turning decidedly cool.

The nurses wheeled over a gurney, helped Collin onto it, and began briefing Bruce on the intake procedure.

Isabelle wanted to interject, but a hospital security officer nearby asked her to move her car first to avoid blocking the ambulance

Collin’s expression remained dark and unreadable throughout, though the reason was unclear.

Seeing that Collin was occupied with the visitors, Isabelle called Bruce out into the hallway.

“Did Damian send you?”

“Mr. Cross instructed me a while ago to stay close and ensure your safety,” Bruce replied. He wasn’t a man of many words.

He was a young man Damian had helped years ago, back when Damian was stationed near the border. Bruce didn’t have many formal skills—just knew how to handle himself in a fight–and had struggled to find steady work. Ever since Damian left active service, Bruce had worked for him.

Isabelle hardly ever interacted with him directly.

Hearing this, a wave of quiet warmth spread through Isabelle’s chest.

So Bruce had been following her for days already.

She desperately wanted to call Damian right then, but worried he might be asleep, so she sent him a detailed message instead, explaining everything that had happened from start to finish.
