Chapter 314 An Unexpected Visit

Caroline was doing fine her main concern was that Isabelle might get too upset and do something rash.

Hearing that Isabelle was settled back at the villa and everything was calm, she felt a wave of relief. She’d even considered moving in to stay with her for a few days.

Isabelle gently declined. Right now, she just wanted some space to sort through her own feelings without outside noise.

The more people mentioned it, the heavier it sat on her mind.

Caroline didn’t press. After offering a few comforting words, she ended the call.

After two back–to–back conversations, Isabelle wasn’t in the mood to sketch she dragged herself back to the bedroom.

anymore. Besides, her eyelids were growing heavy, so

As soon as she stepped in, her eyes landed on the two pillows side by side on the bed, and a sharp pang shot through her chest.

She walked over, grabbed Damian’s pillow, and tossed it onto a nearby armchair. Then she climbed into bed, switched off the lamp, and closed her eyes.

She slept straight through, dreamlessly.

She’d turned off her alarm and woke naturally.

When she got up, she felt surprisingly rested–yesterday’s exhaustion seemed to have lifted, though her eyes were still puffy and dry.

By the time she got dressed and came downstairs, a warm, savory aroma was already drifting from the kitchen.

“Susie, what’s on the menu today?”

It smelled comforting and delicious.

“Homemade chicken soup. Not sure if it’s to your taste, but I also made some ravioli.” Susie smiled warmly. Isabelle had always been fond of her ravioli.

Isabelle walked over, saw the soup cooling slightly on the table, and took a small spoonful to taste.

“Mmm, this is really good!”

She smiled. It had been a while since she’d had such richly flavored soup–today’s batch had a subtle, soothing sweetness to it.

Eagerly, she took her seat and was about to start when she noticed the ravioli looked a little… uneven.

But she didn’t say anything.

Susie caught her glance and said with an apologetic smile, “I was in a bit of a rush this morning, so they’re not the prettiest.“

Isabelle didn’t mind. Having a warm meal was what mattered–presentation wasn’t everything.

She happily finished a bowl of soup and ate several of the ravioli.

Susie pressed her lips together, gave a slight nod, and quietly snapped a photo with her phone to send to someone.

When Isabelle arrived at the studio, Collin and Linda had just pulled up.

“Morning,” Collin said.

“Morning,” Isabelle replied.

“I’m leaving Mom in your care today. I’ve got to head back to the office. Should we meet for lunch, or would you prefer I have something delivered here?” Collin was his usual considerate self.

Linda quickly chimed in, “Let’s have it delivered here. It’s just us girls today and going out in this heat isn’t very appealing.”
