Chapter 335 A Chase and an Embrace
He slowly rose to his feet.
Beside him, Damian turned slightly, catching sight of her for the first time in what felt like an age.

Leaning one hand against the back of the sofa, he pushed himself upright, shoulders drawing in a little, hands slipping into his pockets outwardly, he seemed no different than usual.
Nearby, Dylan let out a low, thoughtful whistle, wanting to say something but unable to find the right words.
“Done exploring?” Blaze asked with a slight smile, his eyes on Sienna.
Sienna shot a quick glance toward Damian, who seemed to sense the shift in the pair, a ripple of discomfort passing through him.
Lately, Isabelle hadn’t wanted to see him.
He’d tried to keep his distance too, watching her from afar when he could, hoping for just one more look.
He was afraid she might turn away, or worse–that she’d be upset.
Isabelle pressed her lips together, not quite daring to meet his eyes.
Damian swallowed hard; he wasn’t faring much better himself.
Unsure how to ease the tension, Sienna quickly moved to Blaze’s side and clumsily took his hand.
“I couldn’t find those pastries you mentioned earlier–could you show me where they are?” Sienna tilted her head up slightly, studying the man’s expression.
It was the first time she had ever looked at him so directly. Since their marriage, they had maintained a polite distance, and she had preferred it that way.
Blaze never overstepped or intruded, whether she went out with friends or spent days at her parents‘ house–he never showed annoyance.
She had thought this arrangement was fine, at least for now.
Blaze lowered his gaze to her, his eyes settling on their joined hands.
This was the first time she had ever taken his hand on her own. Usually, when Blaze reached for her, she would subtly pull away. Today was unexpected.
He gave the small hand in his palm a gentle squeeze, his thumb brushing lightly across her knuckles. “Of course.”
Blaze’s affection was clear in his expression.
A blush spread across Sienna’s cheeks, warmth and a quickened pulse flooding through her.
Blaze glanced toward Damian, almost feeling as though he were abandoning him.
Sienna looked back at Isabelle, giving her a meaningful glance, then left with Blaze.

Once they were out of the lounge area, Sienna let out a quiet sigh of relief. It was her first time orchestrating something like this nerve–wracking, but with a faint thril
She loosened her grip on Blaze’s hand slightly, but he showed no intention of letting go
Instead, he held on more firmly.
Sienna winced at the pressure and stopped walking. “What is it?”
“Putting so much effort into fixing other people’s relationships–shouldn’t we make some progress of our own?” Blaze said seriously, looking down at the young woman before him.
“Huh?”
What progress? Wasn’t their current arrangement working just fine?
Blaze studied her innocently puzzled expression and frowned slightly.
“We’ve been sleeping in separate rooms for over a month now. If this goes on, it’ll strain our relationship. I don’t want us to end up like Damian and the others, tangled in some unnecessary misunderstanding.”
Sienna glanced around; fortunately, no one was within earshot. Discussing this out in the open could easily lead to misunderstandings.
Blaze gave her cheek a light pinch. “It’s been long enough–you should be used to the idea by now, shouldn’t you?”
She hadn’t really gotten used to it. She had assumed their arranged marriage would simply continue as it was. What further progress was needed?
Sienna’s palms grew damp.
She hadn’t been sharing a bed with Blaze, and he had allowed it, but now it seemed his patience was wearing thin.
“If you don’t say anything, I’ll take that as a yes,” Blaze said, a faint smile touching his lips as he took her hand and led her off in search of refreshments.
“Mr. Wilder…”
“You could try a different way of addressing me.”
It seemed she hadn’t checked the day’s fortune properly.
“We…” Isabelle began.
“Let’s not talk.”
Damian cut her off, paused for a moment, then turned and walked away.
He didn’t want to speak.
He feared it might lead to another, worse outcome–he couldn’t handle any further blows right now.
“Damian!” Isabelle called after him.

She didn’t want to discuss anything else; she only wanted to say she had misunderstood him.
Dylan didn’t follow but remained nearby, waiting quietly.
Damian walked quickly, afraid she might catch up.
When Regina arrived earlier, he had stepped outside and spotted her feeding the koi from the gazebo.

A soft breeze had stirred, and from a distance, she had seemed like an ethereal vision amid the lush water lilies, with scattered petals drifting like tiny boats on the pond’s surface.
She looked like a dream–one he had clung to for weeks.
That moment of stillness felt like the only peace he had known in over half a month.
Damian hadn’t dared to go closer, afraid to disturb the tranquility.
“Damian, stop!” Isabelle called, slightly breathless as she hurried after him.
Worried she might trip in her haste, Damian halted, the line between his brows deepening.
“Ah-!”
Isabelle’s heel caught unevenly on the path, and she stumbled sideways.
Damian reacted instantly, turning back to catch her.
As soon as he steadied her, a warm, soft presence pressed tightly against him in a firm embrace.
Damian clenched his jaw and tried to step back.
The scar on his back pulled taut under the pressure of her hold, as if the freshly healed wound from that day were being torn open
once more.
