Chapter 345 Making Amends
She should make time to appease him.
“How about I take you out for dinner tonight?” Isabelle offered.
It looked like she’d have to postpone her plans with the girls for a little while.

The immediate softening in Damian’s expression let Isabelle relax–he’d been close to slipping back into one of his quiet, brooding moods again.
“Then I’ll leave the arrangements to my wife,” Damian said, a slight smile touching his lips.
Isabelle lowered her head to finish her breakfast, quickly typing a message to Brian.
“Pick up Diana from the airport at 2 p.m. I reserved a private room at Privé Table–just give them my name.”
Brian’s reply came instantly. “Well, well… look who’s finally acting like a decent human being.”
“Keep it up and I’ll have your tongue cut out.”
Isabelle realized her tone was starting to sound more and more like Damian’s–he’d once said the exact same thing to Brian.
“Thanks, boss.”
Damian watched her smiling at her phone. “What’s so amusing?”
“Nothing,” she said, setting her phone down and taking a sip of her orange juice. “I’m free from noon until late afternoon.”
Damian finished the last bite of his omelette. “And?”
Isabelle pressed her lips together. He’d seemed off earlier, but now that she’d cleared her schedule, why did he still sound unimpressed?
“I’ll… follow your lead,” she finally said.
“Good.” Damian’s smile returned.
She had no idea what he was planning–he didn’t give any clues about what came next.
Damian dropped her off at Beatrice’s estate–the same place where last night’s party had been held.
“Text me when you’re about to wrap up,” he said, holding her hand and gently rubbing his thumb over her knuckles for a long moment.
He didn’t like the idea of Isabelle running around while pregnant, but this was something she truly loved doing.
“Okay.” Isabelle nodded.
Damian unbuckled her seatbelt and pulled her into a hug, reluctant to let go.
“If anything comes up, you have to tell me,” he repeated, just to be sure.

will,” she assured him.
It was only then that she realized Damian had become even more attached than before.
When he finally released her, he couldn’t resist brushing a kiss against the corner of her mouth before letting her open the door and step out.
Isabelle slipped out of the car.
Ashley, who had just pulled up and parked nearby, happened to see Isabelle stepping out of Damian’s car.
She paused. Was Isabelle really that blindly trusting of Damian?
Those words yesterday, the photos she’d been shown–none of it seemed to have shaken her at att
Remembering what had happened at the studio last night, Ashley’s already tense expression tightened further.
She still couldn’t lay a finger on Isabelle.
It was utterly infuriating.
Isabelle waved goodbye to Damian, then noticed Ashley staring blankly at her from a short distance away.
A faint smile touched her lips.
She chose to ignore Ashley entirely.
Last night’s incident was just an appetizer.
Ashley wanted to say something to her, but now wasn’t the time. There were more important matters to handle. She had to secure Beatrice’s commission; otherwise, she’d have no way to recover from last night’s losses.
The fire had destroyed almost all of her recent work and pending orders–she couldn’t just swallow that defeat.
But seeing Isabelle here today made her confidence evaporate completely.
On the drive over, she’d kept telling herself to stay composed–at the very least, she couldn’t afford to look weak. Yet the moment she saw Isabelle, every bit of her mental fortitude crumbled.

Even though she’d made a name for herself as a designer in the industry, she still didn’t hold a candle to Isabelle.
But she refused to give up.
“Good morning, Ms. Foster, Ms. Debose.” A bright, clear voice sounded beside them.
Isabelle and Ashley both turned toward the sound.
This was the third designer competing for the private commission today.
Isabelle felt like she’d seen her once before at one of Helena’s earlier cocktail parties.
Kylie Harmon—the daughter of the city’s real estate magnate–was polite and unassuming, with delicate features and a soft, classical beauty.

Rumor had it Beatrice hadn’t actually planned to invite so many designers this time, worried it might make her seem overly particular. But Kylie had personally asked to participate, using the excuse of wanting to learn from the experience, and had persuaded Beatrice to give her a chance.
Kylie’s father had also put in a good word, and Beatrice hadn’t felt she could refuse without causing offense, so she’d agreed. Ashley glanced at the young woman in front of her, her expression unchanged. She offered a curt greeting and headed inside.
“Hello,” Isabelle said with a slight nod, then followed the housekeeper into the estate.
Kylie smiled pleasantly, unfazed, and trailed closely behind them.
Beatrice and Wilbur were in the garden gazebo listening to an opera recording, with several staff members attending to them nearby.
“Please wait here for a moment, ladies. I’ll let Mrs. Crowther know you’ve arrived,” the housekeeper said, leading the three of them to a spacious, airy patio.
The patio connected to a covered veranda that stretched along the edge of a large reflecting pool. Rose gardens bloomed all around, and a gentle breeze occasionally swept through, rustling the leaves and making the blossoms sway lightly.
The three of them took their seats on the patio almost simultaneously.
A staff member nearby brought over cups of coffee.
Isabelle looked toward Wilbur in the distance, a faint smile touching her lips.
Ashley’s gaze drifted in the same direction, and the unease from last night began to stir inside her again.
That photo… was of Ashley and Wilbur.
Who knew where Isabelle had gotten that picture–and how she’d managed to get her hands on it.
