Chapter 377 Echoes of the Past
Isabelle had noticed that when he returned last time, there was stubble on his jaw, so she had bought him a new electric razor.
“It’s not that,” Damian said, looking at her seriously.
Last time had been because of the whole Ashley situation–he hadn’t been in the mood for grooming, let alone remembering the stubble on his face.
But since she bought a new one, using it was perfectly fine.
While Isabelle was halfway through organizing, Damian gently pulled her aside to rest and began packing the remaining items himself.
“Your leg… Is it really alright?” Isabelle suddenly asked.
“It’s fine,” Damian paused briefly, then continued. “Why do you ask?”
“There’s been some talk at the company, rumors about you injuring your leg.” But over the past few days, she hadn’t noticed anything unusual.
“Just rumors, don’t pay them any mind.”
“Still, you should be careful. Things like yesterday… It’s better not to do that again.”
When she saw the photo Lynn had taken of Damian helping at the disaster site, a strange sense of dread had washed over her.
If it were before, she might have admired such a man for a long time–who wouldn’t?
But as her feelings for him deepened, she had grown selfish.
She didn’t want him to get hurt at all.
Just like when she saw Diana injured–she truly wished they hadn’t turned back to help.
After Damian left, Isabelle felt completely hollow.
It felt just like last time–within minutes of him being gone, she already missed him.
She spent the rest of the day at home, planning to visit Diana at the hospital the next morning.
But unable to sleep, she eventually had Bruce drive her to Cross Manor.
She called Regina ahead of time. Regina hesitated slightly but confirmed she was home. Over the phone Isabelle also heard
in the background saying not to bring too much–they seemed to be preparing for a trip.
Isabelle wondered if she should postpone her visit until they returned, but Regina quickly insisted she come over
So Isabelle went back to the estate.
When she saw Regina, the two embraced as if the earlier tension had never existed.
“Isabelle’s back,” Louis said with a smile, though his expression seemed a bit strained

sabette sensed something was off but didn’t feel right asking–it was likely because of what had happened last time
“Regina, Louis,” Isabelle began, returning to apologize, “I’m sorry about last time, I was wrong.”

“What are you talking about? That’s all in the past. If it weren’t for that kid making such a scène, no one would’ve misunderstood. You weren’t wrong–the one at fault is that shameless woman!” Louis gritted his teeth, clearly still upset.
But he wasn’t angry about Isabelle’s misunderstanding he was furious about Ashley’s actions.
Truthfully, everyone had misunderstood Damian, not just Isabelle. And to be honest,Louis was the one who had personally disciplined him.
Louis felt guilty about it, too.
Of course, they believed in Damian’s character, but in that situation, Damian couldn’t avoid the consequences.
Regina quickly added, “Let’s not dwell on this anymore. Come here, let me take a look at you.”
She pulled Isabelle over to sit on the nearby sofa and asked how she’d been lately, especially after what happened at Laurel Valley a couple of days prior.
It had been truly worrying.
Thankfully, Damian had rushed to the scene–otherwise, who knows what might have happened.
“Did you go for your follow–up appointment?” Regina asked carefully, as if afraid of upsetting her.
“Yes, everything’s fine,” Isabelle replied with a smile.
The two chatted on the sofa, catching up, while Louis went upstairs to finish packing.
“Are you going on a trip?” Isabelle asked.
“No, no,” Regina said, forcing a smile. “Just planning to visit some friends nearby. We haven’t been out in a while, so we thought we’d take a short drive since things have been quiet lately.”
“There’s been a lot of rain recently–please be careful when you’re out.”
After the Laurel Valley incident, she couldn’t help but worry.

“Don’t worry, the rain has started to let up these past few days. Look, the weather outside is quite nice now.” Regina patted her hand, understanding her concern.
Sensing that Regina seemed somewhat distracted, Isabelle chatted a little longer before taking her leave.
With nowhere else to go, she eventually returned to the main villa

She went down to the storage room, settled into the armchair nearby, and began flipping through his old photos one by one.
A soft smile touched her lips most of the photos on the top layer were from his time in uniform.
The man in the pictures was vibrant, radiating energy and youthful determination.
In the training field photos, he looked focused and resolute–every captured moment was charged with intensity.
He probably didn’t display these photos because of his legs.
