Chapter 585 A Husband’s Comfort
Lynn was startled by his sudden move.
What did it mean that he was kissing her right now?
And kissing her so intensely.

She didn’t resist. She let Lucas take the lead until he gradually softened, kissing away the tears on her face
one by one.
“Lynn.” His voice was low, his gaze tender as he looked at her, slumped in the passenger seat, breathless from his kiss.
Lynn took slow, deep breaths, trying to calm the heat he’d stirred up inside her.
“Lynn.” He said her name again. “You’re nothing like him. This isn’t your burden to bear. Don’t carry this weight on your own.”
He tugged her shirt back into place. “Your apology won’t change anything. Even if we forgave him, other people won’t let this go. You need to understand that.”
He wouldn’t forgive Ruben. But his feelings for Lynn were separate.
Lucas didn’t want to blur those lines.
Still, in Lynn’s heart, it stuck like a splinter.
She understood what he meant and didn’t bring it up again.
Lucas grabbed a wet wipe from the console and carefully cleaned her cheeks.
“No matter what happens to your brother, how I feel about you is real,” he said.
Lynn went still.
They drove back to Moore Manor.
Since it was Lynn’s first visit home after the wedding, Sandy and Charles had come back too.
They were living in a penthouse in the city now. Away from the family’s watchful eyes, their relationship seemed closer than ever.
“Lynn.” Sandy greeted her warmly.
Lynn smiled back. “Hey, Sandy.”
No one mentioned what had happened before.
Lynn later found out from Lucas that it really had been Charles who’d sent someone with that honey water the last time. But a household staff member, wanting to stir up trouble for Sandy, had lied and said Charles wanted Sandy to deliver it herself. Sandy had agreed without thinking twice.

The staff had always looked down on Sandy because of her past. Combined with how easygoing Sandy usually was, it gave people with bad intentions an opening.
Now that Charles and Sandy had moved out, that staff member was gone. Nobody in Moore Manor dared gossip about her anymore.
Petra’s expression was tight, slightly uncomfortable. She acknowledged their greetings briefly and gestured them inside.
As soon as they arrived, Robert called Charles and Lucas up to his study.
Petra went to the kitchen to check on dinner. Sandy and Lynn sat awkwardly on the couch.
When no one was around, Lynn pulled a folded piece of paper from her bag and handed it to Sandy.
“Sandy, I wrote this prescription based on the last one you took. If you want to try it, take this for a while and then get checked out. I can write another one to help with ovulation after that.”
It was an herbal formula. Since Lynn didn’t have Sandy’s number, and she wanted to be discreet, she’d written it out by hand.
Sandy looked at Lynn, then at the paper, and took it without hesitation. “Of course I trust you.”
The fact that Lynn had been willing to call out the contraceptive situation face–to–face showed she wasn’t malicious. And now she was offering help, even though Sandy had once had feelings for Lucas.
“Thank you.” Sandy meant it.
She’d been on medication for years with no real improvement.
Every time she got checked, the doctors said her body seemed fine, but she just couldn’t get pregnant. Her results would fluctuate–sometimes good, sometimes not–and no one could figure out why.
Petra had always been sweet to her on the surface. Sandy never suspected anything.
Her old feelings for Lucas had faded years ago, replaced by the real connection she had with Charles now. He’d never once blamed her for not getting pregnant. If anything, he’d questioned whether the problem was with him.
Sandy had seen how good Charles was to her. She’d given him her heart completely.
Lynn just said, “Of course,”
She didn’t care how much Sandy had liked Lucas back then. Lucas was hers now. After everything he’d done when her family fell apart, Lynn wasn’t worried about anyone taking him from her.
They didn’t have much else to talk about, so they just waited downstairs.
Lucas and the others came down around dinner time.
Charles walked straight to Sandy. She whispered something to him, glancing at Lynn as she did.
Charles‘ lips curved into a slight smile.
