Chapter 591 Longing and Dreams
Lynn froze for a second, then moved her hand from his stomach to his chest.
“Can I ask you for something?” she whispered.
Lucas‘ low voice murmured near her ear, “Yeah?”
“Can you try to be a little gentler…”
Lucas‘ throat tightened. “That’s not always possible…”
“No, you have to,” Lynn said, her fingers curling slightly against his skin. “You have to be gentle.”
“I’ll try.” He dipped his head, his warmth settling over hers.
He took his time with the foreplay–almost like he was teasing her on purpose, drawing it out.
Lynn stood near the sofa in her heels, but it wasn’t long before he lifted her and carried her back to the bed.
It was like Lucas had completely let go, his voice low as he kept saying her name.
She never answered him.
“You hungry?” Lucas asked afterward, lying beside her after cleaning up, lazily playing with a strand of her hair.
Lynn was too worn out to respond. How was she supposed to find the energy to get up and eat?
Her whole body felt completely spent.
Maybe she should stop wearing stuff like that for a while. Probably better to just ask questions with words next time, so there wouldn’t be any misunderstandings that led to… well, this whole situation.
Which, of course, was exactly what he’d been hoping for.
The next morning, Lucas had breakfast ready for her.
Lynn still felt a little embarrassed about the whole “little cat” thing from the night before, but she couldn’t help noticing how wide Lucas‘ grin was.
She glanced at the suitcase sitting by the living room. “You going somewhere?”
“Yeah, heading upstate for some work. Not sure how long I’ll be” Lucas set a plate of scrambled eggs and toast in front of her
Lynn found herself already feeling reluctant. She didn want him to go
“Long?”
“Definitely more than a week. He ruffled her hair. “Misine okay? I’ll call you every day

She swallowed her bite. Last night, she’d already gone through more than a few outfits. If she wore any more, her body would probably just give out
“You think you can handle it? Lucas asked, completely shameless.
Lynn didn’t answer. She just kept her head down and focused on her breakfast.
Lucas smiled and watched her.
Outside, a light rain was falling. When Lucas left, he didn’t let her walk him out. A car service picked him up to take him to the airport.
Before he left, he reminded her more than once, “If anything comes up and I can’t get back in time, just go to Damian or Anthony. Don’t overthink it.”
He almost mentioned Joseph too, but the words caught in his throat.
Even though she was his wife now, he still wasn’t crazy about the idea of her being around people who had feelings for her.
Even if they were his brothers, he had to be careful.
Lynn nodded.
Lucas was worried Lynn would try to deal with everything herself. With all the media attention getting worse, some family members might use the Ruben situation to come after Lynn or her parents.
The truth was, she didn’t feel all that comfortable reaching out to Damian or Anthony either. She hadn’t even contacted Isabelle
Everyone knew how hard Damian had fought to get though the years after everything he’d been through

Lynn lifted her hand and placed it over his, her face touching her own skin, his hand between them
I’ll wait for you,” she said.
Lucas couldn’t help pulling her in by the waist and kissing her.
“Wait for me.”
After Lucas left, Lynn planned to just stay home and not go anywhere.
Daisy was busy with the Westperch Hotel campaign, which was almost wrapped. Since she didn’t have much on her plate right now, she stopped by to see Lynn.
When she got there, Lynn was reading that book on herbal medicine Taylor had left for her.
“Thinking of becoming a herbalist now?”
Daisy stretched out on the sofa. With all the ad work, she hadn’t slept well in days. Coming over was partly an excuse to catch up on rest.
The bed Lucas had custom ordered for Lynn was incredibly comfortable, but Lynn didn’t let her sleep there. Now that Lucas had shared it with her, it felt a little weird having Daisy use it.
Luckily, the couch was made of the same material, so Daisy was more than happy to crash there instead.
“Thinking about it, yeah. Once all of this settles down, I want to find somewhere quiet and maybe open a little herbal shop,” Lynn said, biting her lip.
That was her biggest dream.
Back then, she’d always just gone along with whatever her family set up for her–her studies, her marriage And honestly, it had worked out fine. Especially marrying Lucas.
But now, for once, she wanted to live for herself.
