Chapter 678 The Delivery
Chapter 678 The Delivery
“But,” Anthony paused, “it might help if you call me honey more often.”
Daisy’s face went scarlet.
Was he getting bolder? Was that even part of the treatment?
“Would that be okay?”
“Okay.” She swallowed her pride and agreed.

Anthony finally let her go. He stood up and walked toward the bedroom, calling over his shoulder, “What do you want to eat?”
Daisy watched his broad back. The way he moved was distracting. And those dimples just above his waist made her blush even harder.
She’d held that waist before.
Shameful.
Her face was redder than a pomegranate at this point.
“Whatever…” She took a sip of juice to calm down.
Anthony chuckled softly.
The fridge was packed with pomegranates. Daisy knew they’d never finish them in two weeks, so she gave some away to Damian and Alaric.
As time went on, Anthony and Daisy fell into an easy rhythm. Anthony seemed like a completely different
person.
Nothing like the old Anthony.
At the end of September, after Damian’s birthday party, Anthony and Daisy walked home together.

Daisy held his hand, feeling sentimental.
A year ago today, Damian had shown up to his own birthday party with divorce papers and a stack of other !documents. What a difference a year made.
And not long after that, she’d started “dating” Anthony.
She laughed to herself.
Anthony looked at her. “What’s so funny?”
“I was just thinking–in a few days, it’ll be our one–year anniversary.” The more she thought about it, the funnier it seemed.

Anthony smiled too.
Daisy was curious. “When you knew I was using you as a cover, why didn’t you say no?”
He didn’t answer.
At first, he had said no.

Daisy had promised not to use him as a decoy. That was why she’d posted that fake “sending him abroad photo.
But then she’d kept pretending he was her boyfriend. And he’d just let it happen.
“Did you start liking me later?”
Daisy stopped walking, stood in front of him, and looked into his eyes, searching for the truth.
“Yes.” Anthony didn’t hesitate.
“You like me?”
“Yes.” His voice was steady.
Daisy’s heart melted.
Anthony liked her.
“Then why didn’t you let me know it was you that night?”
If she’d known it was Anthony that night, she wouldn’t have cared.
She’d always thought she couldn’t have children. But she also didn’t want her parents to worry.
Joseph had once told her, Anthony doesn’t want to get married anyway. Just date him forever. You two
could make it work.
She’d been tempted. She thought it could work. Because she kind of liked Anthony too. And she didn’t care about the scar on his face.
Anthony’s expression flickered. “I was afraid you’d have nightmares. Afraid you’d…”
Afraid she’d be traumatized. Afraid she’d mind. Afraid that if she knew, they couldn’t even be friends afterward.
Daisy’s heart ached. She reached up and touched his left cheek.
“Have you ever wondered why I used you as a cover?”
He froze. He’d thought she was just avoiding her parents‘ matchmaking. And he’d been happy to help.
Anthony asked, “Why?”

Chapter 678 The Delivery
“Because you’re an idiot.”
She turned to walk away. Anthony caught her hand and wouldn’t let her go.
“You haven’t answered me.” He already knew the answer. But he wanted to hear her say it.
Daisy just smiled and said nothing.
On November 11th, Daisy went into labor.

She’d seen blood while showering that evening and went straight to the hospital. She was in labor for a full day and night.
She got an epidural, so it wasn’t too bad.
Anthony wanted her to have a C–section. He hadn’t planned on having more children anyway. But Daisy refused.
In the end, she delivered naturally.
Twin girls. Everything went smoothly.
Daisy was completely drained. She didn’t even have the strength to drink water.
The two babies slept quietly in the bassinet nearby. Adrian and Priscilla watched over them, along with two nannies.
Anthony sat by Daisy’s bed, holding her hand.
Her hand was cold. Her hair was still wet. Her pale face was heartbreaking.
Joseph had food sent over. Anthony had no appetite.
“Try to get some rest,” Joseph said, patting his shoulder.
“I’m fine.” Anthony shook his head.
Adrian looked at Anthony. The man was more anxious than he was.
Priscilla gazed at the two wrinkly little newborns and remembered the day Daisy was born.
Daisy had been just as wrinkly. Priscilla had worried about how she’d ever get married when she grew up.
But Daisy had grown into her looks. Thank God she hadn’t turned out ugly.
Now, watching her grown daughter, married, with children of her own, a weight had finally lifted off Priscilla’s heart.
And looking at Anthony, she felt at peace.
That evening, everyone sat around the table eating. Anthony took two bites and put down his fork.
