Chapter 839 Airport Reunion
Chapter 839 Airport Reunion
Claudia glanced over her shoulder and spotted them. Darren and Nora followed her gaze.
“Zander?” Claudia couldn’t hide her surprise.
Harvey had brought Zander along on a business trip?
“Uncle Harvey, look–it’s Mommy!” Zander exclaimed, though his eyes stayed fixed on Claudia.
Harvey gave a brief glance in her direction. “I see,” he replied, his tone even.
Standing beside him, Dolores quietly admired Claudia. “Wow, Zander… your mom is gorgeous.”
“Of course she is! My mom is the prettiest ever!”
The two groups moved toward each other.
“Mr. Cross,” Darren greeted with a polite nod.
Harvey returned the gesture.
“Harvey,” Claudia said softly.
“Claudy,” Harvey acknowledged.
Just as Claudia reached to take Zander, Harvey held him a little tighter.
“Your mom’s back hasn’t fully healed yet–better not let her carry you,” he told the boy.
“Okay,” Zander mumbled, his expression dropping slightly.
They began walking together toward the gate, Claudia keeping pace beside Harvey as he carried Zander. Darren trailed a step behind, quietly observing Claudia chatting with her son.
Harvey stayed quiet most of the way, deliberately slowing his stride just enough to stay beside them.
As it turned out, they were all headed to the same industry event–and on the same flight.
;
Harvey had booked a first–class suite. Claudia and the others were in standard first class.
But Zander started fussing, insisting he wanted to sit with his mom. After a moment’s hesitation, Harvey arranged for their seats to be swapped so Claudia could join them up front.
Claudia wasn’t entirely comfortable with the change, but Zander was growing restless, and she didn’t want to disturb the other passengers. In the end, she agreed.
“Be good for your mom,” Harvey told Zander firmly.
“I will!” Zander chirped, already snuggling into Claudia’s side as if Harvey weren’t even there.

“Sorry for the inconvenience,” Claudia said apologetically.
Harvey shook his head lightly. “We’re family. No need for that.”
He made sure they were settled in their seats before turning to leave.
“What a devoted father,” a flight attendant remarked admiringly as she escorted them.

“I’m her brother,” Harvey corrected plainly–not “Zander’s uncle“, not “brother–in–law“, just… brother.
The attendant offered an awkward smile before moving on.
Before takeoff, Harvey had Howard rearrange the hotel accommodations so Claudia and Darren would be staying at the same place. He even upgraded them to a presidential suite.
When Harvey returned to his original seat row, he noticed Claudia’s vacated seat was right next to Dolores.
“Mr. Cross?” Dolores sounded surprised. “I thought you’d be in the suite.”
She was already taken aback that Harvey had booked first–class tickets for all of them–Howard had once mentioned how executives like Harvey preferred to travel in comfort.
And now here he was, giving up his private suite to sit in standard first class with the rest of them.
He really does spoil Zander.
Harvey caught her subtly amused look.
“Want to take the kid and switch with me? You can have the suite,” he offered dryly.
Dolores pressed her lips together. “No, thanks.”
Zander could be a handful–sometimes angelic, other times stubborn enough to wear anyone out.
Harvey leaned back and closed his eyes.
Dolores made a light face at him, then noticed a WhatsApp notification from Howard about the updated hotel arrangements for Claudia and Darren.
She bit her lip, wanting to ask Harvey for clarification but hesitant to disturb him while he rested.
Originally, Harvey had booked one presidential suite for himself, Zander, and Dolores–since he couldn’t manage the boy alone, Dolores was there to help watch him.
Harvey didn’t care what anyone might assume, and neither did Dolores. Outside of work, they knew each other well enough.
Howard saw nothing wrong with that either. Around the office, coworkers had a quiet nickname for Harvey: the perpetual bachelor.
He was polite to everyone. had plenty of accomplished women around him, yet never seemed

Office staff did chat casually now and then, but after watching Dolores wear herself out running after Zander these past few days, and noticing Harvey only helped her with practical matters without any romantic warmth, everyone figured her caretaker role wouldn’t turn into anything serious.
The plane was preparing for takeoff.
Dolores ended her chat with Howard and switched her phone to airplane mode.
Since Harvey didn’t seem to be reopening the hotel topic, she gathered her nerve and spoke up.
“Mr. Cross.”
He didn’t stir.
“Mr. Cross?” she tried again.
“Harvey…”
Harvey let out a quiet sigh, barely opening his eyes as he turned his head toward her.
Dolores offered a small, guilty smile. “Howard mentioned Zander might stay with Ms. Bowman for a few days… so does that mean I’ll be…”
“The suite’s already booked. If you want to stay somewhere else, feel free–on your own dime. No need to run it by me,” Harvey said flatly, then shut his eyes again.
Dolores felt gently dismissed.
Well, there was no way she was changing hotels–not if she had to pay herself. A standard room was nothing compared to a presidential suite.
Still, she wasn’t quite ready to let it go.
“Mr. Cross…” she tried once more.
No response.
She softened her tone. “Harvey…?”
Harvey didn’t open his eyes. “What?”
“About my pay for these extra days…”
“It stays the same.”
“Thanks, Harvey!” Dolores replied, a satisfied smile spreading across her face as she settled back and finally let herself drift off to sleep.
