Chapter 851 Bad News
The blazer was Harvey’s, and on her, it hung loose enough to cover everything.

When Dolores settled back into her seat, she realized she’d accidentally grabbed his jacket instead of her
own.
She glanced cautiously toward Harvey.
His ears were still flushed, and he was just scrolling absently through his phone.
“Harvey…”
He looked over. “Let’s head out. It’s about time.”
He stood, and Dolores quickly gathered her purse and followed.
“I’ve gotta run, Henrietta!” she called over her shoulder on her way out. “When you get the chance, put in a good word for me with your brother, okay? Don’t forget!”
It felt like she was marching straight to her own execution.
Henrietta managed an awkward little laugh in reply.
Truthfully, she had no idea how things would play out.
Harvey had been acting kind of off for the past couple of days.
“Mr. Cross…” Dolores caught up with him in the hallway.
“Order a couple more blazers for me when we’re back tomorrow,” Harvey said as he stepped into the elevator, his tone even.
Dolores gave a wry smile. “Mr. Cross, I’m broke. Even if I sold myself, I couldn’t cover it…”
Harvey glanced at her. “Not like you’d go through with it anyway.”
Dolores cursed him under her breath but still forced out an apology. “About what happened earlier…”
“I’ll cover it. Just get those two cleaned and return them to me,” Harvey replied.
Dolores‘ face lit up instantly. “Thank you, Mr. Cross!” she said, her voice bright.
Harvey let out a quiet sigh. Sometimes it felt like he’d hired someone whose main talents were spending his money and getting on his nerves.
After Claudia finished up and stepped out, only Henrietta and Zander remained in the private room, still amusing themselves.

Harold walked in just then.
As he entered, he noticed Claudia was wearing Harvey’s blazer.
He’d seen Harvey and Dolores hurry out earlier toward the elevators.
Harold put two and two together. “Did something spill on it?”
Claudia tugged at the hem. “Yeah. Dolores put it on me. It’s Harvey’s.”
Harold could tell Harvey wasn’t the type to lend his clothes to just anyone.
And earlier, that same blazer had been with Dolores.

Then again, that time at the hospital when Harvey draped his jacket over her–that was a first.
“Go upstairs and change first,” Harold told her.
She nodded and headed out on her own.

“Harold, check this out-” Henrietta was saying as she played with Zander’s hair. “Doesn’t he look cute like this? Almost like a little girl.”
Harold couldn’t help but chuckle. “Did Harvey reserve a room for you?”
Henrietta found that amusing. “Reserve a room for what? I’m sharing with Dolores.”
Harold frowned. “No, you’re not staying with her. I’ll book you your own room.”
The conference events were wrapping up that night, and with many attendees checking out, there were plenty of vacancies.
Henrietta didn’t get it. Harvey’s suite had a spare bedroom–why book another one?
“No, I want to stay with Dolores. We haven’t caught up properly in ages. I already checked with Harvey, and he said it was fine.”
Harold ignored her and picked Zander up. “Still not happening”
Henrietta pouted and shot him a look. She’d thought maybe Harold had softened a bit since Claudia kept him in check, but nope–still the same stubborn guy.
“If Dolores stays in Harvey’s suite, people will talk,” she reasoned, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “They’re not married, he’s single, she’s engaged… they’d just become a laughingstock if word got
out.”
Harold glanced at her. “If you’ve got nothing better to do, watch Zander for a while.”
“No way. I came here to relax.”
In the end, Harold still booked her a separate room.

Henrietta had no choice but to go along with it.

She really couldn’t picture anything ever happening between Harvey and Dolores anyway.
Back in their room, Claudia changed, and Harold walked in carrying Zander.
“Feel like going out for a bit later?” Claudia asked as she folded Harvey’s blazer.
She’d already called housekeeping to have it dry–cleaned.
Harold put Zander down and let him play with his toys on the couch.
“Are you really up for going out?” Harold nodded toward the blazer in her hands.
Claudia smiled. “I’d like to take a walk around.”
“Daddy, I want to go play too,” Zander said, putting his toy aside and walking over to Harold.
Harold smiled. “Alright. Let’s take you both out.”
Claudia was still young–at an age where she just wanted to have fun. Sometimes it felt like she’d never really gotten to enjoy outings like this since marrying him.
Harold helped Zander into his little backpack, took Claudia’s hand, and carried Zander as they left the hotel.
The hotel was right next to the city’s main square. They didn’t often get time like this, so they simply strolled along, enjoying the evening air.
“Tell me if you get tired,” Harold said to Claudia.
Claudia laughed softly. “It’s just a short walk. If I get tired, you can carry me.”
Harold had noticed she’d been smiling more around him lately.
He chuckled, bent down, and scooped her up with one arm.
“Hey! Be careful!” She settled onto his firm arm, holding on tightly.
Claudia felt both nervous and embarrassed, her cheeks flushing slightly.

There weren’t many people around, but a few were still passing by. Being seen like this was a little awkward –but also, secretly, kind of nice.
