“Have you had breakfast yet?” she asked him.
Zander nodded. “Yeah, I ate by myself.”

Harvey hadn’t planned on waiting around for her anyway. He was just about to head inside when he heard Dolores call out excitedly, “Carson!*
Harvey paused mid–step. He stopped and turned to see Carson stepping out of his car.
Carson’s heart dropped the moment he spotted Harvey. A cold shiver ran down his spine.
Harvey’s expression was unreadable. He stood silently beside Dolores, watching as Carson approached empty–handed, which only deepened the frown on his face.
“Dolores… Harvey, Carson greeted them, tension evident in his voice.
He still hadn’t gotten over the punch Harvey had thrown at him at the police station–not to mention the three days he’d spent in a holding cell afterward.
He never expected Dolores to have connections like this. And here she was, still working under him, acting all cozy with Harvey right in front of everyone.
This wasn’t just some casual fling.
He’d better watch his step around them.
“We’re not that close,” Harvey stated flatly, his voice icy.
Dolores flushed with secondhand embarrassment and shot him a sharp look.
She really wished he would just leave.
Carson forced an awkward smile. “First time strangers, second time friends…”
He started to extend a hand toward Harvey, but Harvey didn’t even glance his way. Instead, he grabbed Dolores by the arm and pulled her toward the house.
“Harvey…” Dolores whispered, trying to keep her voice low.
“You’re not even married yet, and you’re already all over him. If I ever see him lay a finger on you, I’ll make sure he regrets it. Understood?” Harvey pushed her through the front door.
:
“Ouch—okay, okay, I get it!” Dolores winced, shrinking back slightly.
Even her own brother wasn’t this overprotective.
It was like Harvey was standing in for Henrietta–and now Dolores was getting dragged into it too.
Carson quickly followed them inside.
Seeing how close Harvey and Dolores were stirred an uncomfortable anger in his chest.
Harvey suddenly slowed his pace, turned around, and blocked Carson’s path.

Chapter 862 Empty Hands
Carson froze for a second, then tried another strained smile. “Harvey”
“Get lost,” Harvey said bluntly, not bothering to soften his words. “Come on, Harvey, seriously…” Carson’s patience was wearing thin.

Harvey’s arrogant, superior attitude felt completely fake to him. Who did Harvey think he was, interfering like this?
Fine, if Harvey wanted to chase after Dolores, whatever. But doing it right in front of her almost–fiance
That was just disrespectful.
Besides, Harvey and Dolores were barely even friends. Wasn’t he crossing way over the line?
“If you’re into Dolores, then fight for her fair and square. See if she chooses you. If not, step aside and stay out of my way.”
Harvey let out a derisive snort.
He didn’t even know why he was bothering with this.
Dolores stood by the living room entrance, watching them.
She saw Harvey say something short to Carson, and the next moment, Carson stormed off furiously- without a word to Dolores, let alone stepping inside to greet her parents.
Dolores put down what she was holding and hurried over, wanting to catch up and ask what had happened, but Harvey pulled her back firmly.
“Harvey, what is your problem?!” Dolores shook off his grip, but by the time she tried to run after Carson, his car was already speeding away.
Harvey stood behind her, unmoving.
Furious, Dolores turned and shoved him, but he didn’t budge an inch.
She started pounding her fists against his chest in frustration, but it was like hitting a wall.
Finally, she stomped her foot, grabbed his arm, and bit down hard.
“Ow–what the hell?” Harvey pushed her head away. “Are you part dog or something?”
“I meant to bite you!” she shot back, embarrassment and anger boiling over.
Harvey watched her flushed, furious face. “Watch the video I sent you. Once you’ve seen it, I’ll explain.”
“You’re insane!”
“Good boy!” Claudia hugged him close.
“What would you like to eat? I’ll bring it up. I just cut some fresh fruit downstairs–I’ll bring a bowl for Zander, too,” the nanny said.
“Anything is fine, thank you,” Claudia replied.
“Of course. I’ll be right back.”
Once the nanny headed downstairs, Claudia scooped Zander up and tiptoed toward Harold’s study. She eased the door open a crack and peeked inside.
Harold was intently carving a small seal, a slight smile playing on his lips.
“Ow-”
He suddenly pulled his hand back, set down the tool, and clasped his other hand over it.
Claudia, who had been quietly approaching, hurried to his side.
“What happened?” She reached for Harold’s hand.
Zander crowded in too. “Daddy, are you okay?”
Harold looked up at her, his expression serious, watching her worry–stricken face.
Claudia carefully opened his hand–and saw nothing. “Did you cut yourself…?”
Just as her concern peaked, Harold broke into a grin.
It was only then she realized he’d been messing with her.
Claudia swatted his shoulder, half annoyed, half amused. “You jerk!”
“What if I am?” Harold laughed and pulled her into his lap, planting a kiss on her lips.
“Stop it…” Claudia tried to squirm away.
He was being unusually bold in front of their kid.
Seeing Harold holding onto Claudia, Zander started pushing at him.
“Let go of my mommy!”
“Zander, get him! He’s picking on me!” Claudia giggled as Harold tickled her side.
At her command, Zander began throwing playful punches at Harold.

Chapter 864 Goodnight
“Little traitor,” Harold teased. He gently lowered Zander to the floor, then gave Claudia a quick, smacking kiss on the cheek right in front of the boy.
Claudia squirmed and laughed from the ticklish affection.
Zander scrambled back up.
Harold reached out, caught the boy’s small arm, and gently laid him down again.
“Still coming at me? You’re next.”

Claudia was no match for him. He captured both her wrists and pressed her back against the sofa, kissing her deeply.
She could only stare up at him, dazed.
Zander grabbed a couch pillow and swung it toward Harold.
Harold chuckled, reached over, and pulled Zander in too. Soon, both Claudia and Zander were side by side, playfully pinned under his arms against the cushions.

And on top of that, he’d driven Carson off. Like it or not, Carson was still her fiancé at the moment.
Too angry to speak, Dolores turned and marched back inside, leaving Harvey standing alone outside.
By the time Harvey returned indoors with Henrietta and Zander, his mood was visibly sour.
Harold could tell right away that Harvey must have run into Dolores–he just didn’t know why it had left Harvey so irritated.
Henrietta walked over with a small box of pastries Amanda had given her.
“Claudia, try one of these.”
Claudia was in the middle of making a pumpkin pie. She’d been getting pretty good at it lately. Without even pausing her work, she leaned over and took a bite of the pastry Henrietta held out.
“Mmm, that’s really good,” she murmured, pressing her lips together before taking another bite.
Henrietta smiled proudly. “Right? Amanda makes the best pastries.”
Harold noticed Harvey sitting off to the side, silently drinking his coffee. He set down what he was doing, walked over, and took a seat beside him, pouring himself a cup as well.
“Rough day?” Harold asked lightly.
It was pretty obvious Harvey was starting to care about Dolores–maybe more than he wanted to admit.
Harvey glanced at him, then over toward Claudia and Henrietta, who were now chatting happily as they shared snacks, completely unaware of the two men talking.
“Ran into that Carson guy,” Harvey said tersely.
Harold, who had just taken a sip of coffee, looked surprised. “He sure knows how to make an entrance.”
“Hmph,” Harvey snorted coldly. “And that girl’s no better. The guy showed up empty–handed and she still went running to him.”
“Empty–handed? And he had the nerve to come over?” Harold couldn’t help but chuckle. “So… did you tell her or not?”
