Chapter 880 Exhausted and Happy
Claudia had mentioned the same thing to him earlier.

Harold still wasn’t completely comfortable handling kid–related routines.

Since Megan–who had been through all this herself–agreed with Claudia, he figured it was worth paying
closer attention to:
“Alright, thanks,” he said.
Megan nodded and headed out.
Harold stepped into the children’s bedroom.
Zander was fast asleep, clutching his large white stuffed goose, with one of Claudia’s sweaters lying beside him.
Harold sat on the edge of the bed and gently brushed the boy’s cheek with the back of his fingers.
By the time Claudia came out of the shower, Harold was still in the room.
She walked softly to his side.
“Maybe we should let him sleep in our room tonight?” she suggested again, keeping her voice low.
Harold glanced up at her.
She was dressed in a light white nightgown, her skin glowing faintly from the warmth of the bath. Without thinking, he took her hand and guided her onto his lap.
Claudia’s eyes shifted toward Zander, worried they might wake him.
“Wouldn’t be fair to you,” Harold murmured.
Claudia shook her head softly. “It’s really not.”
“Let me take care of something first, then I’ll bring him over,” he said.
“Hmm?”
Before she could ask, Harold lifted her by the waist, carried her back to the master bedroom, and closed the door behind them. He turned on the baby monitor on his phone, set it on the nightstand, and glanced at the screen–Zander was still sound asleep. Then he switched off the bedroom light.
That “something” turned out to be exactly what she’d guessed.
Over the past couple of days, he’d noticed the wastebasket in their bathroom remained empty.
Claudia hadn’t brought it up, and Harold hadn’t asked.

Some things, he was starting to understand without words.
The next morning, Zander woke up to find himself snug between Harold and Claudia.

He sat up, grinning, and studied their sleeping faces. Leaning over, he planted a soft kiss on Claudia’s cheek, then did the same to Harold.
Claudia didn’t stir, but Harold’s eyes opened.
“Up already?” Harold pulled the boy into his arms and rubbed his scruffy cheek against Zander’s soft hair.
“Daddy, did I sleepwalk again?” Zander whispered..
“Yeah, you did,” Harold replied with a quiet smile. “Why don’t you go find Megan first? Mom’s pretty tired -she needs a little more rest.”
“Okay!” Zander scrambled up, dragged his stuffed goose with him, and padded out of the room, carefully closing the door behind him.
Out in the hall, Megan greeted him cheerfully, “Good morning, Zander!”
Harold listened to the door click shut, then turned and drew Claudia closer against his chest.
“No more… I’m exhausted,” she mumbled sleepily, pushing weakly at his shoulders.
“Alright, no more,” he promised, smoothing her hair..
Claudia mumbled into the pillow, barely audible, “Faker…”
After the Columbus Day weekend, Harold returned to the office.

Claudia started bringing Zander with her to the Southhall Compound every day.
He behaved wonderfully–never fussy–and Nora often kept an eye on him. Sometimes he’d even pass tools or hold sketches for Claudia while she worked.
On the day of Stella’s garden party, Claudia spotted a familiar name among the plusones on the guest list: Keith.
She was attending as the guest of one of Stella’s close friends.
Keith’s leg seemed mostly healed now, though she still walked with a slight limp. She’d recovered faster than expected–in less than three months, she was already mobile.
The party kicked off in the afternoon, with guests filtering in steadily.
When Keith arrived, Claudia was in the front courtyard of the main villa, handlettering custom quotes on paper fans for attendees.
Stella had booked the whole venue exclusively. The two adjoining halls were styled with distinct themes: autumnal floral displays, a specialty beverage bar, and aromatic scent tastings. Each area drew small

groups of guests.
Meanwhile, Stella was chatting with Darren not far away.

“You’re telling me Ms. Bowman is Ludi? Graham’s granddaughter?” Her expression was pure astonishment.
“That’s right. I know how much you admire Graham, but Ms. Bowman is remarkable in her own right She planned this whole gathering,” Darren said, his gaze drifting toward Claudia with clear respect.
“Last time we spoke, I almost thought you had a thing for her,” Stella teased lightly. “She really does seem like quite a catch.”
Darren chuckled. “Ms. Bowman is exceptional, no doubt. It’d be easy to like her. But I doubt Harold would appreciate that very much.”
“Wait, you mean-” Stella’s eyes widened with curiosity.
“She’s married to Damian Cross‘ son.”
Stella was stunned all over again.
She’d actually considered introducing Claudia to her own son. It never crossed her mind she was already part of the Cross family.
“Stella, I’ll let you get back to your guests. I’m going to mingle a bit,” Darren said, not wanting to dwell on the topic–or risk Stella trying to match him with her daughter. He made a polite exit.
“Of course, go ahead,” Stella replied.
They parted ways, and Stella moved off to welcome more friends.
As requested, Claudia had personally prepared parting gifts for each guest: handpainted canvas totes with custom calligraphy, each containing a decorative handlettered round fan, along with a set of skincare samples Stella had curated.
She’d prepared about ten extras, but even more unlisted guests showed up.
So she settled in to letter a few more fans on the spot.
Stella stayed nearby for a while, watching Claudia work, and couldn’t help praising her quietly. What a shame she married so young–the Cross family had certainly snapped her up first.
