Jaguar:
This whole situation has caused me a lot of confusion.
Sooner or later, Theodore and I will go through the same pain. Then what?
I mean, it was strange because, even if it wasn’t really painful, just the thought of leaving Verity behind, where her abusive boyfriend could still get to her, was already getting to me.
I was already stressed, upset, annoyed, angry, and going through a plethora of emotions.
"Don’t worry, he’s fine," Theodore assured me as he extended his hand, rested it on my shoulder, and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
We were sitting in the living room, unable to eat our breakfast.
Even though we were comforting each other, we were both deeply worried.
"It’s not just that," I said. "I’m confused because of everything else happening around us."
I was already looking for a way to introduce the idea that Verity should come and stay here.
I had already invited her and offered her a room in my home, but she had refused.
So I was going to take the legal route instead, a more professional approach that she wouldn’t be able to refuse.
"What do you mean by everything happening around us?" Theodore asked, turning towards me on the couch.
"There’s a stalker targeting everyone around us. Imagine if he found out one of us got sick and somehow managed to get inside our home."
I grimaced as I mentioned the stalker.
It hit me hard that not only was Verity being abused by her boyfriend, but there was also a crazed stalker who wouldn’t let her live in peace because he believed her brother’s actions defined who she was.
"Did something else happen?" Theodore wondered, and I gave him a firm shake of my head.
"No, but are we seriously waiting for something to happen? Hasn’t he done enough already?" I argued, watching Theodore slowly lower his head as the realization struck him too.
"Look, if that man can cross the border as if he’s invisible, who’s to say he couldn’t get inside our mansion?" I continued, noticing the confidence in Theodore’s expression.
"No, he’ll never come here. That would be impossible for him. That’s why he always sticks to the Omega community, because the protection and security over there are much weaker."
As he said that, I watched realisation dawn on him.
"Exactly," I replied.
Silence settled between us.
I wasn’t sure whether he was thinking about Verity or Oliver constantly going out and being attacked, but my concern was Verity.
"And then there’s this stupid employee of ours," I remarked, deliberately avoiding her name.
"Who? Verity?" Theodore asked almost instantly, thankfully saying her name for me too.
"What’s your plan?" Theodore questioned, looking deeply concerned.
He knew what it meant for her to keep getting attacked.
Eventually, people would think we were deliberately neglecting her because we held grudges against her brother.
At least, that was what concerned Theodore.
Mine wasn’t just that.
I didn’t fucking care what people would think.
I mean, of course I did, but in this particular case, I only cared about her safety.
"Are we waiting for another attack on her?" I asked, sighing and placing my hand on my thigh, gently tapping it a few times.
