Gigi:
It felt like everyone was starting to forget what had happened to me.
"It’s not like that."
I forced a smile, trying my hardest to squeeze out a tear.
"Gigi, come on. We’ll be here for you," he assured me.
That was when I slipped my hand out of his, covered my face with both hands, and started to cry.
"It’s just that— I’ve started having nightmares again. He’s chasing me through the woods, and—"
I used the most dramatic expressions I could manage because I had cried so much over Ragnar the night before that no tears would come anymore.
It was becoming a little concerning.
The two of them immediately moved closer to me.
Theodore leaned over and wrapped me in a hug.
Jaguar stayed where he was, wrapped his arms around my legs, and rested his head in my lap.
They had no idea, but I wanted this closeness so fucking badly.
There was only one thing missing.
Ragnar.
If only the three of them would accept me, we would be the happiest people on earth.
I’d make them the happiest people alive.
All they had to do was open their minds a little and accept me as more than a friend.
After crying like that for a while, the inevitable interruption came.
Jenna arrived.
I noticed she’d been wearing much heavier makeup lately.
Whenever Theodore was around, she would subtly tug the neckline of her dress lower so her cleavage was more visible.
She acted innocent, but she really wasn’t.
I mean, the way she’d given her virginity to my brother made that perfectly clear.
Still, there was a lot left to do.
"Breakfast is ready," Jenna announced with a smile.
Then her eyes met mine, and she gave me the sweetest smile.
Oh my Goddess.
All I could think was, ’what a dumbass.’
Did she not know what had happened last night?
Shouldn’t she have been asking how I was feeling?
What a fucking selfish bitch.
All she did was give me a cute smile, as if that somehow made up for letting Theodore explore her insides.
"Come on, let’s go," I said, gently raising my hand to cup Theodore’s cheek, making sure Jenna saw how close we were.
Then I ran my fingers through Jaguar’s hair, ruffling it.
The three of us got up together, and Jenna followed as we walked to the dining room.
Once we sat down, Jenna started serving everyone breakfast.
"Where’s Grandma Lucille?" Jaguar asked.
"Um, she woke up a little earlier and had breakfast in her room. She’s praying to the Moon Goddess now," Jenna replied, trying far too hard to sound sweet.
I noticed she kept trying to catch Theodore’s attention.
"Well, I’m just going to grab a sandwich and head back to my room. I’m really tired. I was awake all night," Theodore said, picking up a sandwich and I nodded.
Once upon a time, they never would have left me alone.
But now that they believed I had my best friend with me, aka Jenna, they thought it was okay to leave.
Little did they know, I didn’t even like her.
"I’ll let you two catch up as well," Jaguar said, gently brushing my cheek before leaving.
"Wow, they really care about you," Jenna commented.
Of course she noticed exactly what I wanted her to notice.
"Yeah. Well, Ragnar’s fine now. Thanks for asking," I replied bitterly.
I watched the smile slowly fade from her face.
"Of course I was going to ask about him. My parents already told me what happened," she explained quickly.
"No, it’s okay. But Jenna, sometimes you’re supposed to think about other people, not just yourself," I said sternly.
