Verity:
It had been ten days, and there was still no news about Gigi.
It was frustrating because she had managed to draw all the attention to herself.
Everyone was talking about her and how the poor victim had been forced to relive her trauma because of her brother.
They wondered how she must have felt after realizing that her own brother had been traumatizing women while she was seeking justice for Justin’s victims.
Some women had even come forward claiming that Justin had harassed them too, which was a complete lie.
These women had never been part of our pack. I had never seen them before, and they were from completely different territories.
They were only trying to gain attention. Whenever anyone asked them even the simplest questions about Justin’s personal life, all they knew was what they had seen in the video, including his appearance.
They didn’t even know his full name. Some of them were pronouncing it wrong.
The whole situation was both frustrating and infuriating.
I was growing more agitated with Gigi, but on the surface, I had to play the part of someone deeply concerned.
There was something else that bothered me.
Nobody seemed particularly interested in Jenna’s mate ball anymore, and I couldn’t help wondering if that had been Gigi’s ultimate way of punishing her.
Jenna had been preparing for her admission and departure.
We were spending a lot of time together, and whenever we sat down, we ended up talking about Gigi and how cunning that bitch was.
"Where are you headed?"
Jaguar’s voice made my body jolt.
"Hey, calm down. It’s just me," he told me, flashing a smile.
I puckered my lips, pretending I was frightened because Oliver had traumatized me.
It wasn’t entirely true.
He had traumatized me years ago, but I had lived with that trauma long enough to crush it beneath my feet.
"I was thinking about going back to the office. Since the mate ball isn’t being prepared right now because of Gigi, I’ve decided to focus on my work instead," I told him, slowly turning to leave.
"I’ll drop you at the office."
It wasn’t Jaguar who spoke.
I turned and found Theodore standing behind him, dressed in a black suit and ready for work.
A strange expression crossed Jaguar’s face as he glanced at his brother before looking back at me.
"No, it’s okay. I’ll take a cab," I replied, trying to get away from both of them.
The brothers had come to an agreement.
While two of them searched for Gigi, the third would take care of the pack’s matters because, well, other people mattered too.
"Theodore, it’s your day to follow Ragnar’s lead and look for Gigi," I heard Jaguar tell him.
That was what I had noticed.
Both of them looked ready for a day at the office, even though I knew one of them had to stay behind with Ragnar.
I didn’t know how the argument had ended, but I got into the car and left for work.
When I arrived, I had barely settled at my desk when I saw Jaguar appear on Ragnar’s floor.
That told me Jaguar had somehow won the argument over who would be going to the office that day.
