Theodore:
Ragnar looked incredibly anxious as we drove.
We had Diana’s phone with us, along with several warriors who were tracking the location. And, honestly, none of it looked good.
The signal was coming from the same area where Gigi had disappeared.
Unless she’d vanished somewhere completely different and this was all one massive coincidence, we were heading in the right direction.
Whatever the truth was, we had to hurry.
Then everything went downhill.
We received a call from Rocky’s phone.
At first, I assumed it was Rocky calling to blackmail Diana. Maybe he hadn’t seen the news yet, or perhaps nobody had told him what had happened.
We’d tried to keep everything quiet, but somehow the news had leaked. We’d managed to get it taken down afterward, but by then it was already too late.
We were terrified that Rocky might have seen it.
But the real shock came when we answered the call.
It was Gigi.
Everything suddenly became much worse.
She was crying for help, her voice so soft and terrified that our worst suspicions were immediately confirmed.
She had been abducted.
But knowing she’d fallen into Rocky’s hands made the situation even more dangerous.
We pushed the car even faster.
No matter what it took, we had to reach her.
We had to save Gigi.
"Ragnar, everything is going to be all right," I assured him, glancing toward him.
He sat rigidly in his seat, fists clenched, completely silent.
He looked like he was ready to attack someone at any second.
And I couldn’t blame him.
After hearing Gigi on that call, knowing she’d spent eighteen days with a man who was a predator was terrifying enough on its own.
Finally, the tracking signal led us off the main route and toward a secluded stretch of land.
Then we saw it.
A fucking cabin stood ahead of us.
For a moment, I couldn’t understand how none of us had known it was there. Rocky had been slipping out of our territory, crossing the border, and somehow we’d never noticed.
Maybe the blame belonged to us.
I couldn’t even imagine what Gigi might have endured during those eighteen days.
The car had barely stopped before Ragnar threw the door open and jumped out.
He immediately pulled his gun.
I knew exactly what was going through his head, and I didn’t blame him.
The rest of us got out and followed him toward the cabin, the warriors close behind.
Jaguar had stayed back at the house to look after everyone there, but he remained in constant contact with me over the phone. He was just as worried about Gigi and what might be happening to her.
Ragnar reached the entrance first.
We expected the door to be locked and were prepared to force our way inside, but when Ragnar grabbed the handle, it opened immediately.
Rocky hadn’t even bothered to secure it.
He probably never imagined anyone would find him. He must have thought he was some kind of brilliant criminal.
Ragnar entered first with his gun raised, and we followed closely behind.
The moment we stepped into the living room, he drew in a deep breath.
Toys were scattered everywhere.
Tangled among them was Gigi’s sweater.
My fist clenched.
