Gigi:
Five days had passed, and it was finally time for me to be discharged from the hospital.
To be honest, I had gotten so used to all the attention.
Theodore and Jaguar would come into my room first thing in the morning and sit with me, doing everything they could to cheer me up.
At that point, if I had asked them for the moon and stars, they probably would have found a way to give them to me.
Then there was Ragnar.
He would leave all his work behind just to come and sit with me.
I even got him to do things he normally wouldn’t, like reading books to me.
Although, saying I made him do it wasn’t entirely true.
He refused to read the erotica novel I had picked.
I would ask him innocently ’why not erotica?’ and he would simply just shrug.
In the end, he chose a suspense novel instead, something much more suited to his taste.
My parents had visited me once after everything happened, and every time I saw them afterward, they looked as though they were on the verge of tears.
My father was furious, but there was no one he could direct his anger toward.
My mother was simply heartbroken.
"So, we’re taking you home," my mother said with a smile.
Her smile looked strained and broken.
For a moment, I felt bad for her. I wanted to tell her to calm down, that nothing terrible had actually happened to me.
But if I told her the truth, sooner or later, it would reach someone else’s ears.
So I had to keep the secret to myself.
"My pure daughter. Such beauty is becoming a curse for you."
My mother gently placed her hand on my head before brushing her fingers over my cheek.
Then she looked away, probably trying to hide her tears.
"Well, if I had known my purity and innocence would become such a problem, I would’ve done something about my beauty," I sighed.
My mother only looked more worried.
That was when Ragnar arrived.
"Okay, you’re good to go home," he told me.
I nodded while my mother watched me with wide eyes.
"So, we’re taking her with us," she said with a broken smile.
Ragnar nodded. "Sure."
He moved to help gather my things, but my mother spoke again.
"Actually, I was thinking...why don’t you take her home with you? I think she’ll feel much better if she’s around you."
The suggestion came from her heart. It wasn’t because she didn’t want to take care of me.
There was only one reason behind it, and she had mentioned it countless times during her visits.
She was afraid that everything that had happened would make Ragnar think I wasn’t the perfect mate for him anymore.
Alpha kings had enormous egos. Everyone knew that, and it wasn’t some myth.
