Chapter 166

Vance’s expression shifted.

Rebecca offered a bright, casual smile. “Hello, Mr. Bradford.”

“What are you doing here? You’re discharged?” His tone made it clear he was anything but pleased.

She kept her smile. “Yeah. Nice running into you.”

His face darkened further. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

She shrugged. “Didn’t want to bother you. Well, I’ll get out of your hair.”

“Hold on,” he called out.

She raised an eyebrow. “What? You suddenly have time to drive me home?”

“Wait for a while. We’ll go together.”

“No need, honey. We’re not headed to the same destination.”

In six days, they would part ways for good.

His scowl deepened. “Where are you going?”

“Easy, Vance.” Catherine jumped in, looking nervously at Rebecca. “Don’t be mad, Rebecca. He’s only here accompanying me for my follow-up. The last treatment helped a lot, so we’re getting another prescription.” 1

“Cathy’s parents aren’t in Soliaridge,” Vance explained. “She’s here alone, and I’m her closest friend. Who

else would come with her?” 1

Rebecca nodded. “Of course. Carry on, then. Hope you two have a baby soon.”

Vance’s brows snapped together. “What kind of nonsense is that?”

“What? Is it wrong to wish Catherine a baby?” she scoffed. “Should I wish you infertility instead?”

Vance’s anger simmered beneath the surface. Catherine patted his chest soothingly. “Chill, Vance. Rebecca didn’t mean it. Actually, since you two haven’t had children yet, maybe she should get checked,

too.”

Turning to Rebecca, she added, “Why not join me? You and Vance could have a baby soon.”

What a performance! But Rebecca knew Catherine did not mean a single word.

“That ointment worked wonders,” Catherine continued, tilting her head. “After he rubbed it in, my whole belly felt so warm and comfortable. Right, Vance?”

So, that was the point-to flaunt that Vance had massaged her belly.

Rebecca shook her head. “I don’t need a check-up. Infertility isn’t always a woman’s issue. I suggest Vance get examined. This clinic probably has a men’s department, right?”

Vance turned livid, but she wasn’t done.

“Come on,” Rebecca continued in a concerned tone loud enough for the entire waiting area to hear, “men hate admitting problems in that area because of pride. But if there’s an issue, it should be treated. Don’t

hide from it.”

Heads turned. Curious glances landed on Vance. No matter how tightly he frowned, he could not escape

the stares.

Through gritted teeth, he hissed, “Stop talking nonsense!”

“I’m only trying to help. Don’t you want to be a dad soon?” She waved cheerfully. “I’ll leave you to it. Bye!”
