Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 274

Chapter 274

Rebecca’s chest ached with bitterness.

Everyone believed Vance could make her happy-everyone except himself and the people around him.

But love couldn’t be forced. It had taken her five years to learn that.

Back then, she could even accept that Vance didn’t love her. Saving him had been pure instinct. At that critical moment, she hadn’t had time to think of anything else.

How could she possibly have been scheming to trap him into marriage, as he believed? The fact that he thought so little of her still cut deep.

If he didn’t love her, he should have told her at the beginning. She would have walked away wanting nothing, healed from her injuries, and faced her future on her own.

He could have done so any day during those five years. She would have respected his honesty, and they could have parted peacefully. At least, they had both tried.

But instead, they had reached this point.

Desmond fell silent, but Helia kept talking, trying to persuade him.

Rebecca felt something cold on her cheek. She touched it and found her palm wet with tears. Wiping them away, she left without disturbing them.

Desmond tried to compose himself, but anger kept surging. “I went to her wedding, watched from afar, and saw her sweet smile. When he put the ring on her finger, I had this overwhelming impulse to rush up, stop it, and take her away.”

Helia was stunned, though she was aware of his feelings for Rebecca. She just hadn’t expected it to start so early and hadn’t imagined such agonizing internal turmoil,

“I regret it so much now,” he continued, his voice raw with pain. “I should have rushed onto that stage and taken her away.”

Helia hesitated, then finally couldn’t resist saying, “But back then, she didn’t even know who you were. People would have thought you were crazy and kicked you out.”

Her words earned a glare from him. She blinked innocently, as if saying, “What? I’m just being honest.”

He surrendered. “You’re right. That’s why I didn’t even dare to approach her to offer my congratulations. I was a coward.”

“It’s all in the past.”

“You see, no one forced him to marry her. Why would he repay her kindness with cruelty? If he doesn’t love her, plenty of people will. She is so wonderful.”

“What’s done is done, but it’s not too late now. If you like her, then chase her. Confess your feelings to

“I will tell her, but not now. She hasn’t finalized her divorce yet. I don’t want to burden her with more

stress.”

“Well then, stop sitting here drowning your sorrows. If Lauren catches you, she’ll have plenty to say.”

“I’m not drinking.” He showed her his glass. “The bar has special mocktails. They’re not bad. Want one?”

He didn’t drink alcohol, knowing Rebecca was injured just because Vance was drunk. That had forever altered the trajectory of her life. 1.

He would never be like that irresponsible man.

“I thought you were drowning your sorrows,” Helia chuckled. “I came all this way to comfort you. Alright, let’s go back and rest. We have to accompany Rebecca to her rehabilitation session tomorrow. Just leave the past behind. We’ll be there for her and create a bright future together.” 1″
