Chapter 348

Rebecca blinked. “Huh?”

“They’re going for mutual destruction,” Gabriel explained. “If they can’t get the deal, they don’t want anyone else to have it either. That kind of twisted mindset!”

Rebecca couldn’t understand that kind of thinking at all.

“I was holding back because of you. I really wanted to keep this reception classy tonight. But since they insist on playing dirty, let’s just give them what they asked for,” he said, glancing at her. “Are you really not upset?”

They wouldn’t be the ones losing face anyway. The cheaters would. He was just afraid it would break her heart.

Rebecca shook her head calmly. “Go ahead. And take my phone. I have already organized everything you’ll need into a folder.”

She pushed her phone toward him. Gabriel left for a short while and then returned, handing the phone back to her.

Moments later, the large screen in the ballroom flickered to life, displaying the same edited video.

The editing work was professional. In it, Rebecca appeared coldly arrogant while Catherine looked heartbreakingly pitiful.

Not everyone had witnessed the slaps in real time, but the story had spread among the guests. When they saw the video, many began to wonder if the rumors had been wrong.

It was totally reversed, but they didn’t rush to comment, only treating it as entertainment.

Then someone in the crowd shouted, “We don’t welcome such arrogant capitalists in Soliaridge! They shouldn’t be allowed to invest here or partner with anyone!”

The words only stirred up shallow murmurs. No one joined in.

As if on cue, the screen switched to the trending page. Every repost and hateful comment appeared in giant letters for the entire ballroom to see.

Apparently, someone staged this. These sophisticated guests would not miss that.

Vance glared at Aiden, as if trying to burn holes with his eyes.

“You twisted the truth and painted Rebecca as some kind of monster?” he hissed. “And you had it projected on the big screen? How is she supposed to show her face after this?”

Aiden spread his hands. “What’s the big deal? She barely comes out in public anyway. It’s not like people haven’t gossiped about her before.”

Those words echoed in Vance’s mind like a curse. He suddenly remembered two months ago, when

Rebecca had come to the restaurant to find him.

His friends had been mocking the way she walked. Aiden had even imitated her limp, and she had run

off in anger.

He had brushed it off, saying it was just a joke. Now he realized the joke wasn’t funny at all.

She hadn’t come home that night. How deeply hurt must she have been? 3

The urge to punch Aiden died completely. He had no right to do that. What made him any different from

Aiden?

He stood up abruptly, and Aiden asked cautiously, “Where are you going?”

“To clear her name.” He intended to get on stage, take the microphone, and tell everyone the video had

been edited.

“No, don’t go!” Aiden cried out.

The scene on the screen shifted again, switching to a newly registered account belonging to Gabriel.
