Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 547

Chapter 547

You can still scold me. That means you’re doing better,Vance said playfully,

Rebecca raised an eyebrow.

Ever since their divorce, this man had become oddly annoying.

Back when she had held him up like he was the center of her universe and spoiled hita endlessly, he had never taken her feelings seriously. Now he was acting in ways she couldn’t quite understand.

It was you who blew on the leaves those nights, right?she asked.

WellHe hesitated for a second, then lowered his head. Yeah.

He waited for her to scold him, but she stayed silent.

He looked up, uncertain. What’s wrong?

It sounded awful, she said. You guys were blowing like that back in high school. Don’t you have any selfawareness?

Wellhe chuckled, apparently not.

Don’t tell me you thought you were musical geniuses, she said, genuinely puzzled by their confidence

Wewere pretty proud of ourselves,he admitted with a sheepish grin. Being able to play a tune on a leaf? That’s cool, right? We even used to compete to see who could blow the loudest.

No wonder the sound had drowned out her music.

Rebecca,he continued, leaning back in his chair just like she was, I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older, but lately, I’ve been missing our younger days more and more.

I keep thinking about high school and about playing basketball with Jethro, Darren, and the others on the team. And youcame to almost every game. Even guarded our clothes and bags for us.

When did I

Don’t think I didn’t notice. You never talked much; you just stood quietly by our pile of clothes and backpacks, watching the games. I remember one time a clumsy guy almost stepped on our stuff. You protected the pile like a mother hen and told him to be careful.

She narrowed her eyes, recalling it. Maybe she had, but that was a long time ago.

You’re not even 30 yet, and you’re already talking about getting old,she snorted. Good thing Josette and Kaitlyn aren’t here, or they’d scold you.

Mental age has nothing to do with actual age,he chuckled. This past year, it feels like I’ve aged ten yearsno, 20, maybe even 30. I feel like an old man at the end of his days.

She didn’t like the atmosphere and started to get up, but he continued, I brought Darren’s diary with me. His parents let me read it. I’m planning to follow in his footsteps and visit all the places he went.

She sat back down. What’s the point of that?

I don’t know. Maybe there isn’t one.He shook his head. Sometimes when you reach a certain point and have nothing left to chase, you just follow your heart.

She frowned. Stop talking like you’re on your deathbed.
