Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 561

Chapter 561

“Coach! We’re with you! The girls threw their arms around Rebecca, jumping and laughing so enthusiastically that they nearly knocked her over.

Rebecca hugged them back tightly, unable to stop herself from laughing. She had already fallen for this kind of trick onre before. There was no way she would be caught off guard again.

Margaret’s scheme was the same as what Desmond had pulled back then. He had taken Willow out to dinner, showered her with gifts, and finally lured her away.

Having grown up with Desmond, Margaret had learned all his tricks. Moreover, she had been at odds with everyone in the troupe from the start, so her sudden friendliness had been far too suspicious.

Rebecca had been prepared the whole time. The girls had already come clean to her earlier, saying, “Coach, let’s see what she is really up to.”

That was how tonight’s scene had unfolded.

Margaret, who had been so confident of victory, stood stunned for a moment before humiliation crashed over her. She had bragged so boldly in front of Rebecca, only for reality to deliver a sharp slap.

She lost control and shrieked, “Are you stupid? I offered you ten times the salary!”

A girl named Heather Casey stepped forward to face her.

“We’re not like you, Margaret. We genuinely love dance. We want to make it our lifelong pursuit and career. What we’re looking for is the greatest possibilities this art can offer, while you only treat dancing as something fun.

“So, even if you offered ten times the salary, what difference would it make? You can afford it for a month or a year, but what about two years? Three? Ten?”

“So what?” Margaret sneered. “I could pay you for ten or twenty years without blinking. Money is the least important thing to people like us.”

“Guess we’re just on different paths.” Heather crossed her arms. “We want real development and growth in the dance world.

“Even if we spend our whole lives dancing in the corps de ballet, at least we’re earning our living with our skills and can hold our heads high. We’re not handing our careers and futures over to someone who’s just playing around for fun.”

Heather turned to the others. “Right, everyone?”

“Yes!” they answered in unison.

They had come together and endured so much because they shared the same dream. Some might leave the troupe one day, but it would be for their personal reasons–not because they abandoned the group on a whim or created a crisis for the troupe they had once sweated and bled for.

Rebecca clapped loudly. “Well said! Alright, everyone, let’s get back to rehearsal!”

Thankfully, Margaret had never truly integrated into the troupe, which had given Rebecca time to stay on guard. Otherwise, suddenly losing so many dancers right before a performance would have been disastrous.

Margaret couldn’t tolerate such humiliation. She felt as if the entire troupe had trampled her dignity underfoot. In a fit of rage, she terminated her contract on the spot and instantly wired the penalty fee to the troupe’s account.

“This pathetic troupe doesn’t deserve me anyway!” she declared arrogantly before storming out.

The moment she left the studio, she dialed Desmond on a voice call. He didn’t pick up, but she would not give up.

Finally, his irritated voice came through. “Are you sick in the head? I’m in a meeting, and you’re calling nonstop.”
