Chapter 589

Fimming, Margaret went onling to check the situation and immediately saw Desmond’s statement.

The more she read, the more pain she felt.

“Why is he so obsessed? They aren’t even together anymore. Why is he still publicly declaring his loyalty? Does he really think she would care? Is it worth it? Doesn’t he feel embarrassed?”

Her parents saw her sobbing and were startled. They looked down at her phone and saw Desmond’s post along with an even fiercer storm of outrage directed at their daughter.

Erik’s chest heaved with rage. “That kid is hopeless! And we were thinking about setting you guys up. He’s already acting like this before anything is settled. How could we ever rely on him?”

“He’s just been tricked by that woman!” Margaret argued.

“You’ve lost it!” Erik turned to his wife. “You talk to her.”

Tiffany hated seeing her daughter so upset. “Sweetheart, you can’t be blinded by love. Desmond is heartless and doesn’t deserve your feelings. What do you even see in him?”

“Does love need a reason?” Margaret shot back.

Ever since she was little, the adults had talked about her and Desmond as a destined match. Now it suddenly didn’t count?

In her eyes, nothing existed except Desmond’s post. She couldn’t even see the tidal wave of attacks raining down or her.

She forwarded his post and added her own comment. Her fingers moved fast over the screen, and once finished, she hit send without hesitation.

“What did you post?” Tiffany asked, unease creeping into her voice.

Margaret was already in the middle of a media storm; anything she posted now was supposed to be weighed carefully or, better yet, reviewed by the PR team.

Tiffany grabbed the phone from her hands.

The post read: [You’ve always wanted to be the lead in her story. You never once looked back to see that I wanted to be the lead in yours.]

Tiffany was shocked, but before she could react, Margaret snatched the phone back.

“What did you just post?” Tiffany snapped, pointing at the phone. “You’ve completely humiliated us! Delete it right now!”

Margaret cried harder and refused.

“You still have the nerve to cry? Do you realize what you’ve done?” Tiffany spluttered, her temples throbbing. “You’ve basically begged a man to notice you in front of the entire country.

“Do you have to stoop this low? If you want to get married, just say the word. There’d be a line of suitors. Why are you groveling like this?”

“I didn’t grovel! I just like him. Is that a crime?” Margaret countered. “I’m just telling him on equal footing and in front of everyone that I like him. What’s wrong with that? Isn’t this what you wanted?

“Weren’t you always pushing for us to get married? Now that it’s blown up and embarrassed you, it’s suddenly all

After venting her frustration, she grabbed her phone and started typing again.

Margar Shaw, take full responsibility. Yes, I stole the concept for Phoenix in Flights from Rebecca Perry. I’ll own what I did. From now on, I’ll never performon stage again, and I’ll compensare Rebecca for all her losses.

[I apologize to her for the harm caused by the online attacks. I’m willing to face legal consequences. To all the dancers who performed in Phoenix in Flight, thank you, and I’m sorry. I won’t be able to dance with you anymore.

[I hope other troupes will evaluate you fairly based on your professional skills. The plagiarism and my personal issues with Rebecca are my problem alone. It has nothing to do with them. I

Once that was posted, no PR team could salvage it, unless they claimed Margaret had mental issues. But they couldn’t bear to say that about the daughter they had spoiled since childhood.

Erik came over, noticed his wife’s pale face, and asked what was wrong. Tiffany wiped her tears and showed him the posts.

“This is all your fault, she complained. “You kept on talking about setting her up with Desmond. Now he has turned into her obsession.”
