Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 701

Chapter 701

Next door was a popular bistro.

When Rebecca and Jenny arrived, Catherine was at the entrance handing out waitlist buzzers. The moment she saw them, her whole body went rigid. She looked completely flustered, not knowing where to put her hands.

Rebecca and Jenny exchanged a look, thinking, “We haven’t even done anything to you yet.”

Catherine’s gaze drifted behind them. Then, with tearful eyes, she suddenly bolted forward.

Jenny was baffled. “What is she doing? Is she trying to frame us?”

Rebecca, however, was well–versed in these tactics. She pulled Jenny aside, clearing the path for Catherine. It was only then that Jenny saw Vance had appeared behind them. Catherine was heading straight for him.

The two girls crossed their arms, waiting to see what performance was about to unfold.

Catherine ran to Vance’s side and turned around to shield him protectively. Her eyes were red and swimming with tears.

“Please don’t blame Vance. I begged him to find me another job. If you want to blame someone, blame me. Just please spare him, and don’t let this come between you.”

Jenny and Rebecca were on completely different wavelengths.

Having lived a full life before returning to her younger self, Rebecca had seen plenty of manipulative performances like this.

But Jenny was just a carefree, straightforward high schooler; she was used to typical high school dramas, not this level of calculated melodrama.

She shot Rebecca a baffled look that clearly said, “What did we even do?”

“Poor and defenseless?” Jenny’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Still leaning into her coworker’s shoulder but angled so everyone could see her tear–streaked face, Catherine went on, “I’m only 17–just past the legal working age. I don’t steal or cheat. I earn everything honestly.

“I swear I have no other intentions. I’m not trying to steal Vance from anyone. I just want to study hard, save money, and get into the college of my dreams.”

The crowd grew even more outraged.

“What? Are these two teenage girls fighting over a buy? So young and acting like this!”
