Five Years Wasted Now They Beg Her Back novel Chapter 121

“From now on, wherever Graceline Technologies or my fiancée, Grace, is present, I never want to see this woman’s face again.”

“Understand?”

“Yes, Mr. Clarke!”

Following Damien's orders without a moment's hesitation, several bodyguards moved forward and seized Lilian, who was still in a daze.

“No! You can't do this to me! Mr. Clarke! Everything I said is true!”

Lilian was mercilessly dragged out, her screams quickly fading beyond the door.

A strange atmosphere settled over the banquet hall.

Damien, however, acted as if nothing had happened.

He turned and strode over to Grace.

As everyone watched in shock, he wrapped his long arms around the cool, strong woman, pulling her into his embrace.

He held her tightly, as if trying to merge her into his very being. He rested his chin gently on the top of her head, his voice low and tender, carried clearly throughout the hall by the microphone on Grace’s dress.

“I’m sorry you had to go through that.”

Leaning against his solid chest and inhaling the familiar scent of cedar, Grace felt the tension she’d been holding finally begin to ease.

She shook her head, her voice slightly muffled. “I’m fine.”

“No, you’re not.”

Damien lifted her face, his thumb gently stroking the corner of her eye, his own eyes filled with heartache.

“Those photos… they’re from your past. A past I wasn’t a part of.”

He paused, his gaze sweeping across the room. His voice wasn’t loud, but it resonated with authority.

“I don’t care whose wife she was before, and I don’t care who she used to love.”

“All I know is that from this day forward, Grace is my fiancée, the person I will spend the rest of my life protecting.”

“As for certain people…”

Grace looked at Damien, at the undisguised affection and protectiveness in his eyes, and a warmth spread through her chest.

The wounds that Lilian and Ethan had inflicted seemed to heal in that single moment.

This man always seemed to descend like a guardian angel whenever she needed him most, shielding her from the world.

She stood on her toes and gently, firmly, pressed a kiss to the corner of Damien’s lips.

“Thank you, Damien.”

Ethan stormed out of the hotel and got into his car.

He slammed his fist onto the steering wheel with a dull thud.

Damien’s words and the crowd’s stares had utterly shredded what little dignity he had left.

Damien’s phrase, “mistake a diamond for a stone,” echoed relentlessly in his mind.

He was right. He was the biggest fool in the world.
