Sienna's POV
Mrs. Wilson, “Now in charge of spoiling Noah for you.”
Her reply was as Mrs. Wilson looked at her grandson with a soft and loving gaze.
"Grandma, I'll never want to be spoiled," Noah quipped. Tomorrow I will be there for Mommy!"
I smiled warmly. “Oh yeah? Sweetheart, how will you assist Mommy? Please answer.”
“Bake cakes!” Excitedly, he exclaimed, "This is the same spoon I gave to my Grandmother today!" He continued waving his spoon.
Everyone laughed.
"That's a great idea," Mrs. Wilson nodded in agreement. “If you come back next time, we will be cooking together.”
Noah exclaimed, "Yeah, good," while clapping his hands. "Daddy has to come in and assist me." Then proceed further, adding, "Okay, that's okay!"
Liam displayed a serious attitude. "Daddy might have to taste the outcome?"
Noah quickly responded with a "no" and an angry expression. "Daddy has to stir! Otherwise, the bread will burn!"
Our laughter burst out again. Even Mrs. Wilson Through her mouth tried to suppress the laughter that was evident in their bright smiles. Rather than being warm from the food, the dinner table felt like home to something much more precious, that once-close feeling that was slowly returning. It just seemed so real.
Noah was laughing all the time, and Liam smiled at me with a soft smile, while Mrs. Wilson looked peaceful. I wished I hadn't woken up from that dream.
“My pleasure is bringing you all together for this evening.”
With a sudden change in tone, Mrs. Wilson spoke with stoicism, acknowledging, "This house has been quiet for too long. Whenever I dined alone at this table, I always felt the urge to laugh.”
My mouth swolened with gratitude as she expressed her affection for us. "Thank you, Mom. We were welcomed with open arms.”
She gently shook her head. "Sienna, I don't think you need to thank me."
Having finally returned, I should be the one to thank you.
My hand was placed under the table with great care, and Liam's hand found me almost hesitant, as if I were afraid to pull away. But this time, I didn't. All I could do was look at him and a faint smile.
While observing us from across the table, Noah unfazed and exclaimed "Daddy, Mommy! You look like you're in a movie.”
We all laughed again. Then I looked at Mrs. Wilson, looking down at the table, still smiling, her eyes shining with relief.
I said softly, "Mom, thank you for giving us a chance to fix things."
She shook her head and smiled. "No, Sienna. Keeping strong is something I should acknowledge with you. For holding onto my son.”
Liam glanced back at me with a warm, wide-eyed stare. "I promise, Sienna, I won't waste this second opportunity."
Immediately, Noah grasped his father's index finger and proceeded to devour his vegetables with enthusiasm. Mrs. We both laughed at the sight, though - for a moment Liam looked down his eyes out with pure happiness, something I hadn't seen in him in years.
As soon as we spotted empty plates and warm tea in the morning, our conversations centered around Noah's school routines, past meals shared, and even small weekend activities. We talked without interruption. Every word was a bit of teasing, but it kept us connected for the longest time.
"I've been hearing such laughter for a long time," Mrs. Wilson said, lovingly observing us. "This house is once again a home."
I smiled and lowered my head, thanking the mother for welcoming Noah and me with such kindness. "Thanks so much.”
Her head shook gently. "Sienna, I don't think you need to thank me. This house is yours too. My sole objective is for everyone to be happy.”
Her words warmed my heart. I looked at Liam, who was holding a restless Noah. He seemed so sleepy in his grasp. His son's hair was brushed gently, his face soft and tender.
As the clock hit nine, I stood up. "Mom, we should start anew." Mom said quietly. “Noah's almost asleep."
Mrs. Wilson nodded and stood up to hug me. "Thank you for your presence tonight. I anticipate frequent visits from you.”
She received my embrace. "Mom, we will."
Noah was still with Liam as he carried him, having fallen asleep on his shoulder before the meal. "Thank you, Mom. It was amazing."
She greeted him with a warm welcome and thanked him by patting his arm. “Say well, Liam."
