Sienna’s POV
“We’d also want you to engage in the media,” she adds.”
You might share your journey, teaser excerpts or behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Readers enjoy feeling connected to their writers.”
That aspect makes me anxious. I’m not someone who quickly steps into the limelight. However if that’s necessary to spread my message widely I’m willing to learn.
The editor opposite me remarks “We also want to ensure the story stays compelling throughout. There are some parts where we added comments. Nothing significant just enhances-some transitions and conversations, in chapters.”
He slides a folder across to me. Upon opening it see sticky notes adorning the sheets. Oddly I don’t feel offended or pressured. Rather I feel valued. Their intention isn’t to alter my voice but to aid in making sure my voice is expressed distinctly.
“I will go over all these notes at the opportunity,” I responded decisively.
We also talked about the steps before release. “Sienna week we’ll begin getting content ready for the announcement of the release date.”Another team member said. “We’ll also ask you to do an interview for the publisher’s website. Don’t worry about being formal, share your story as it reflects your path, as an author, your main obstacles and the lessons you’ve gained.”
For a moment my heart skipped a beat. An interview?
Shared publicly?
However I just. Replied, “Okay. I’ll get ready.”
They chuckled gently, motivating me without any force.
The environment here genuinely fostered my development.
“Moreover we are organizing a book launch event. It could take place in either a bookstore or a local café. Which type of setting do you favor?” one member of the events team inquired.
I went quiet for a bit. Simply picturing it seemed like a scene, from a film me seated at the front of a space, readers arriving to hear and request autographs. It was a dream i had long imagined yet also something that made my stomach churn with anxiety.
“I want it to have a vibe,” I replied quietly. “Nothing large or elaborate. I want the audience to feel connected to me. want to sincerely converse with them.”
The senior editor gave a nod of approval. “That’s a plan.
We’ll aim to get it done.”The conversation went on covering timelines, last review stages and possible digital conversion, for book services.
Rina attempted to interrupt the quiet “Emily, this is Sienna, the writer of the book we’re releasing. Sienna, This is Emily.”
Emily gave a nod yet her eyes stayed locked on me. was aware that our past was tangled, a past that had ended my marriage with Liam a few months earlier.
A surge of feelings churned within me. Rage? Sorrow?
Letdown?
All mixed into one.
Nevertheless I needed to maintain professionalism.
This was a milestone for my book and I refused to allow the past to shatter my dream.
The discussion went on with a strain hanging in the atmosphere. Emily was seated in the corner of the room stealing looks at me and I met her gaze, our eyes conveying more than any words could.
When the conversation moved to the specifics of the photoshoot Emily described how she intended to highlight the aspects of my book in the images. Her tonewas gentle but confidently professional leaving no room. for doubt. She met my gaze steadily as she swiveled the screen of her tablet presenting samples of sessions, with other writers.
