Chapter 478
My hands clenched into fists.
“Penny. That bitch.”
Saying her name still made me furious in so many ways.
“Penelope bribed one of the maids. A young girl named Bella. She
paid her to put something in Dahlia’s food that morning.” My jaw
tightened. “She didn’t just start bleeding out of nowhere. That pain
wasn’t spontaneous.”
I shook my head, anger bubbling.
“Penny did that to her own sister. All because she was sick enough to
believe Dahlia and I were having an affair.”
A hollow chuckle escaped me. “Crazy, right?”
I stood abruptly, pacing the room.
“She already hated Dahlia for marrying her best friend. So when that ridiculous idea took root in her head, it was like lighting a match in a
room full of gas.”

I stopped at the foot of the bed.
“The worst part?” I said quietly. “Someone was meant to die that day.
It was either you… or Dahlia.”
I looked down at him.
“The brakes on your car were tampered with. But you didn’t use it.
Dahlia did.”
My chest tightened painfully.
“Penny’s plan was simple. Kill the baby. Kill the mother. If the
accident failed, then she’d finish the job herself.”
I closed my eyes briefly. “Dahlia never stood a chance.”
I ran a hand through my hair as I sat down, my voice dropping.
“When I confronted Bella, she broke. Told me everything. She said
Penelope threatened her, blackmailed her. So I did what I thought
was right.”
I scoffed. “I went to Father.”
My lips curled in disgust.

“I demanded justice. Arrests. Charges. I wanted Penelope exposed. I
wanted that peasant punished.”
I laughed harshly, throwing my head back. “What a fucking joke.”
I turned back to Roman. “What did I even expect? He was the
mastermind behind her torture. If anything, he was probably relieved
she was gone.”
My eyes burned.
“And Bella?” I added. “She’s still here. Still working in this manor.
Walking these halls like she didn’t help murder an innocent woman.‘
دو
I exhaled sharply. “A few days ago, I saw her.”
My fingers curled unconsciously.
“She ran when she saw me. I chased her down the hall and reminded
her that I haven’t forgotten. That I’ll never forget.”
I stared at my hands. “I hate that she gets to live. That she gets to
breathe.”
My voice dropped, almost a whisper.

“That shit hurts.”
The room felt smaller and heavier now.
“You know…” I hesitated. “I get dark thoughts, Roman. Really dark.‘

I swallowed hard.
“That day in the hallway–it was just me and her. No guards. No
witnesses.”
My hands trembled.
“And there was a voice in my head. Telling me to wrap my hands
around her throat. Telling me not to stop.”
I stared at my palms. “And I listened.”
My breath hitched.
“I did it. I choked her.”
Silence pressed in.
“It felt good,” I admitted, shame and honesty tangled together. “Too

good. I wanted to strangle her.”
I squeezed my eyes shut. “I didn’t want to stop.”
I opened them again.
“But I did. I let her
go and-”
