Satisfied, Maya put her phone away and smiled.

“Professor Gordon, thank you so much for going out of your way to show me around the hospital.”

“Ms. Rice, you’re too polite. It’s my pleasure.”

Barbara had been eager to win Maya over, hoping to boost her reputation by getting Maya on her side. She had reached out before Maya even arrived. The two quickly hit it off.

It was clear they got along well.

Barbara later took Maya to her office and made all the necessary arrangements for her visit.

Meanwhile, Athena and Jaylee returned to their dorm.

Kate came in right after them.

She shut the door and looked straight at Athena. “Why did you tell them that? Do you really want to go back to surgery? Your hand still shakes! You can’t even hold a scalpel steady! If something goes wrong, it’ll destroy your reputation!”

Kate wasn’t trying to stop her. She was worried. Athena had worked so hard to return to the hospital; one wrong move could ruin everything.

Determination flickered in her eyes. “I want to give it a try.”
