Chapter 400: A Rush To Save (Part 1)

There was a car Darno had received recently from a certain individual, and he had been waiting for the perfect chance to try it out. Now that he owned more than one supercar, he didn’t have to worry about damaging this one. It made the decision easy. If there was ever a time to push it to its limits, it was now. And that was how Darno managed to catch up so fast , the engine roared beneath him as he sped down the road, chasing after the group that had taken Sheri.

I remember that license plate from before, he thought, his eyes narrowing. It’s that one at the front.

The yellow sports car tore through the streets, closing the gap rapidly. Within moments, Darno’s vehicle was side by side with the SUV carrying Sheri and the others. The wind whipped against his face as he rolled down the window, leaned slightly out, and began honking his horn.

“Hey!” Darno shouted over the rush of air. “You know what you’re doing is really bad, right? You’ve kidnapped a woman from our company! I suggest you bring her back now!”

He had to raise his voice even higher as the wind roared around him. “I haven’t contacted the police yet, but I know your license plate! And even if you try to get away, I’ll follow you until you stop , I’ll rescue her with my own hands!”

Darno was confident in his fighting skills. He didn’t care how many there were or what weapons they carried. Eventually, they’d have to stop somewhere. When that happened, he would be ready. Even if he had to face twenty of them, he’d do it.

Inside the SUV, the tinted windows shielded them from the outside, but they could still make out the yellow car pulling alongside.

“Damn it, it’s that guy again!” Anton shouted. “Why am I seeing the same annoying people over and over?”

Sheri’s stomach dropped when she looked through the glass. She recognized him immediately , the familiar yellow car, the reckless speed. Darno.

When she had first started working at the Billion Bloodline Group, seeing him there had been a surprise. She never imagined the person her mother once tried to introduce her to would end up working in the same company. Things between them had been awkward ever since, and now, somehow, everything had spiraled into this.

But seeing him there, she wasn’t angry. She was worried.

What’s he doing? she thought. He shouldn’t be here. He can’t take them all on by himself.

If Darno wanted to help, he should have been calling the police, not provoking these men. Chasing them was dangerous enough, but taunting them like this , it would only make him a target too.

Anton crossed his arms and gave a small, humorless laugh. “Well, that guy can’t see me, so at least he won’t report anything to your mother.” He smirked, his tone dripping with false calm. “Looks like you’ve got an annoying tail, and it’s not one of the people I wanted.”

He chose his words carefully. If he told Jett directly to get rid of Darno, he was sure the man would demand a higher payment. Jett didn’t work for free, and Anton had already gotten himself too deep into this mess.

Jett’s eyes flicked to the side mirror, catching a glimpse of the yellow car. “I know,” he said casually. “What an annoying one. That company of yours , I guess there’s a reason they have such a fancy building if their employees are this persistent.”
