Chapter 341 The Runaway Patient

“Take care, Mr. Faith!”

Silas was rendered speechless.

Mr. Faith?

Seriously?

His temple twitched as he took a sharp breath and stepped into the elevator.

An hour later, Hudson was wheeled out of the emergency room by the medical team.

With multiple soft tissue bruises, he needed total rest to prevent his injuries from worsening.

Charles agreed to every instruction and followed the staff to the private ward.

Shortly after the doctors and nurses left, Hudson woke up; Charles leaned in close.

“Hudson, how are you feeling?”

Hudson shifted his gaze, spotting Charles, a faint spark appearing in his dull eyes.

“Charles, go tell Jade I’m dying. Ask her if she’s willing to see me one last time.”

Charles looked pained. “Look… you’re divorced. Things ended badly, and that’s the most pathetic lie I’ve ever heard. Why would she come?”

“Charles…”

A surge of blood caught in Hudson’s throat; as he tried to speak, it sprayed outward.

Splatter.

“Holy hell!”

Charles jumped back then rushed over, pounding his back to help him catch his breath.

“Fine, you win! I’ll go find her. I’ll get Jade for you, okay? Just don’t get worked up!”

Hudson wiped the blood from his lips with total indifference.

Charles left and returned shortly, standing by the bed looking like he was choking on his words.

“So…”

Propped against the pillows, Hudson’s face was ghost-white; seeing Charles’s expression, he managed a bitter smile.

“She won’t come, will she? Not even if she thinks I’m at death’s door?”

Charles closed his eyes, snapped them open, and steeled himself for the fallout.

“I went to her studio. Her staff said she’s been planning to move abroad for days. She took her tools. I think… I think she’s leaving this city and its memories behind for good.”

Thud.

The bed frame groaned as Hudson bolted upright, his face turning a more deathly shade of white, his hands trembling violently against the covers.

For a fleeting second, Charles saw a profound vulnerability in the normally invincible man; as he went to offer comfort, Hudson barked a frantic question.

“Is she… is she gone yet?”

Charles checked his watch instinctively. “The staff said her flight is this afternoon. She should be on her way to the airport right now…”

Before he finished, a gust of wind seemed to tear through the room; Hudson was gone from the bed, his silhouette already disappearing through the ward door.

“Hey!”
