“The moment the contract is signed, the ‘relationship’ ends?”
Andrea gave a short nod.
“Exactly.”
Hudson didn’t hesitate. “Deal.”

He left the café immediately, messaging Bert to end the matter, and drove straight to the hospital.
His biopsy and imaging results for his stomach and lungs were ready.
He took the folder into the specialist’s office and sat down.
The doctor reviewed the charts, his brow furrowed with concern.
“The screening of your lungs shows clear evidence of spreading malignancy. You need to be admitted immediately to begin aggressive treatment to halt the growth. Your stomach lining is also severely compromised. We need to handle both before this becomes terminal.”
Hudson was blunt. “I can’t be admitted right now.”
He had to find Jade. He needed her by his side to fight this; without her, he had no reason to
even try.
The specialist frowned but didn’t argue. He offered a final warning.
“Don’t wait too long.”
Hudson walked out of the clinic, tucking the report into the inner pocket of his suit. He pulled his phone and called Kevin.
“Book me on the first available flight to Faronne.”
He’d had his team tracking her; he knew exactly where she was.
And with Bastian Hamlet in the same city, he couldn’t afford to waste time. He had to be there.
This medical report was his ultimate weapon. He was going to show it to Jade.
Jade had always been his protector. She cared for him more than anyone.

Faronne, Hotel Room 512.
After dinner, Sarah went to find Jade to finalize the schedule for the mentorship.
She rang the bell several times, but there was no answer from inside.
“Jade?”
Sarah began to panic. She pounded on the door, shouting into the room.
“Jade! Are you in there? Talk to me!”
Nearby, Bastian had just stepped off the elevator. Seeing the scene, he marched over, his voice low and commanding.
“What happened?”
Sarah’s voice was high with a frantic, tearful anxiety.
“I came to see her, but she’s not answering! I’ve been knocking and calling, but there’s nothing! What if something happened?”
“Calm down.”
Bastian offered a brief word of comfort before calling the manager to override the lock.
The door swung open. Bastian burst into the room, Sarah right behind him.
They found Jade lying on the bed, her eyes shut tight.
Her cheeks were a feverish red, and her hair was soaked with sweat, sticking to her face in matted clumps.
Bastian pressed the back of his hand to her forehead.
The heat was searing.
“She’s burning up.” Bastian pushed her wet hair aside and grabbed a tissue to wipe the sweat from her brow.
“No wonder she didn’t answer,” Sarah said, her heart dropping. Seeing Jade’s flushed face and

limp form, her panic returned.
“This looks bad. I have some meds from home in my room-I’ll go get them!”
“No,” Bastian said, his phone already to his ear.
“I already have a doctor on the way.”
A medical team arrived minutes later. After a quick assessment, the doctor spoke.

“It’s a severe case of acclimatization-induced fever. I’ll prescribe a high-potency antipyretic. She can only take it once every six hours. If the temperature doesn’t drop, you must use cold compresses. Do not give her anything else.”
Bastian nodded. “Understood.”
Sarah walked the doctor out while Bastian administered the first dose and helped Jade drink
some water.
He spent the next hour with a basin of water, gently sponging her neck, arms, and hands.
Sarah returned but realized there was no room for her. She sat in the corner, watching him. Seeing the raw, naked worry in Bastian’s eyes, she was stunned.
He’s so attentive, she thought.
He’s a million times better than that ex-husband who did nothing but scream and make demands.
As the night deepened, Sarah began to yawn.
Bastian noticed and spoke up. “Go get some rest. I’ll stay with her tonight.”
