Chapter 348 Expelled
He frowned, then immediately let his expression relax
He figured Riley was probably still in the air–bad signal was normal.
Actually, that worked out better.
It’d be another ten hours or so before she landed. No way she could’ve heard about the disaster at tonight’s proposal.
That thought eased his mind, if only slightly.
Putting his phone away, the brief calm on Lucas‘ face vanished, replaced by cold fury.

He gestured his assistant over and spoke in a clipped, icy tone. “I want every piece of coverage about tonight buried. Use every channel. Push all the blame onto Sophia–say she schemed her way into the family and has been manipulating me from the start.”
Even though she was once the love of his life.
Now, faced with the public humiliation of being cheated on, raising another man’s child, and becoming the talk of Havenbrook- whatever lingering affection he had for her had turned to dust.
Right now, he wished she’d just disappear.
The assistant nodded and hurried off.
Lucas then turned to the head butler, his voice flat. “Take a few staff upstairs. Pack everything belonging to Sophia and Jeremy. Have it all thrown out.”
The butler, who’d served the Ashfords for decades, froze for a second, confused. He glanced uncertainly at the young master.
Just then, Julian and Anthea rushed in from the guest house, having caught wind of the scandal.
They hadn’t seen the full evidence yet–only the graphic photos circulating online.
Anthea hurried forward as soon as she realized Lucas meant to put Sophia out. “Lucas, we won’t stop you from sending her away. What she’s done… the Ashfords have suffered enough. But Jeremy–he’s an Ashford. He’s your firstborn son! He can’t leave with her!”
r
“My son?” Lucas let out a cold, humorless laugh. He turned toward his parents, his voice sharp. “Jeremy isn’t mine. Sophia falsified the DNA report from the very beginning.”
“What?”
Julian and Anthea stood stunned, as if struck by lightning.
Under the bright, unforgiving light of the living room chandelier, the front door swung open.
Sophia stumbled in, looking completely drained. Her makeup was smeared, her once–elegant proposal gown now wrinkled and stained. In her arms, Jeremy was wailing, his cries sharp and desperate.
The moment she entered, she dropped to her knees in front of Lucas. “Lucas, please… for all we’ve been through, don’t make us leave… You’re all I have left…”

She was still clinging to her crumbling story, making one last, desperate play. “Jeremy is your son. He really is! What Alexander has -it’s fake! He fabricated everything to get back at us!”
Jeremy, sensing his mother’s despair, squirmed out of her hold. He grabbed Lucas‘ pant leg with small, trembling hands, crying so hard he could barely catch his breath. “Daddy… please don’t make us go… I’ll be good, I promise…”
A child’s sobs hung heavily in the room, tugging at everyone’s heart–everyone except Lucas.
He just stared down coldly at the small hand clutching him. Any softness he might have feit was gone. His mind was made up.
“Alright,” he said slowly, a cruel smile touching his lips. “You think Alexander’s lying? Then come with me to a certified lab overseas. We’ll run the test again.”
He crouched to her eye level, offering her a false way out–one he knew she’d never take. “If the results prove Jeremy is mine, I might even let the rest slide. He’ll remain the Ashford heir.”
He paused, letting each word sink in like a verdict.
‘But Sophia… do you have the nerve to take that test?”
Of course she didn’t.
Here in Havenbrook, she could still pull strings, buy silence, manipulate the narrative.
But overseas, out of her reach, the truth would come out clean and brutal.
Watching the color drain from her face, Anthea finally understood.
She staggered back a step, pointing a shaking finger at Sophia. “Sophia… I… I treated you like my own daughter. We gave you everything. How could you lie to us about Jeremy?
‘Tell me! If he’s not Lucas‘, whose child is he?”
Under Anthea’s piercing gaze, Sophia knew it was over.
All her excuses and carefully built lies crumbled under those three simple words–Do you dare?
She was cornered, with nowhere left to run.
in the thick, tense silence, Sophia fell back on her oldest trick.
Her eyes fluttered shut. Her body–still holding Jeremy–went limp, collapsing sideways… though she made sure to avoid the sharp edge of the nearby table.
But this time, the man who once would’ve rushed to her side, frantic with worry, just stood there.
Cold. Unmoved.
Watching her poor performance with detached contempt.
