“Finished.” Sebastian brushed dust off his hands, walked over to Riley, and bent down to hold out his hand toward her. “Mrs. Torres, come check your new bedroom?”

Riley smiled and slipped her hand into his palm. He pulled her to her feet and led her straight into the tent.

The interior space was larger than she had expected. The air mattress was fully inflated, looking soft and comfortable.

Sebastian sat down first to test its firmness, then patted the empty spot beside him and spoke to Riley, who still stood there. “Lie down and try it out, see if it holds steady.”

Riley took off her shoes and stepped onto the mattress cautiously. She felt the soft texture under her feet before sitting down gently. The bed supported her firmly, and she said, satisfied, “It’s pretty good, feels really stable.”

Yet Sebastian’s eyes stayed fixed on her feet for a long moment. He then stated, “Shift your body a little. I’m afraid it won’t stay sturdy enough for two people.”

Those plain words echoed loudly in the quiet tent, instantly bringing up all kinds of ambiguous thoughts in Riley’s mind.

Her face burned red at once, and she blurted out in a flustered voice, “We’re just camping outdoors! What are you even thinking? What if someone sees us and posts it online?”

But when two people lie on it, insufficient air or loose structure can make it tilt or cave in easily from uneven pressure, even without rough movements. I just wanted you to test its actual load–bearing effect ahead of time.”

His words were logical and flawless without any loopholes.

This only made Riley’s face turn even redder.

It was so obvious that she overthought everything just now.

She held her head high and tried to defend herself, “I… I didn’t mean that kind of thing anyway.”

“Oh, really?” Sebastian lifted his brows, and the smile on his lips grew wider. He was thoughtful enough not to tease her further, then stood up slowly and summed up casually. “Then whoever lets their mind wander too much can just reflect on themselves.”

After his figure disappeared at the tent door, Riley let out a long breath. She flopped down onto the soft air mattress and covered her hot cheeks with the pillow.

A little while later, she could not help lifting the tent curtain quietly to glance outside.

Sebastian stood with his back facing her, adjusting the brightness of the camping lamp carefully.

Warm, yellow light spilled softly over his frame, gilding his sharp facial lines with a gentle warm glow.

His back looked broad and upright, and every single move he made seemed focused and reliable.

Riley enjoyed his wholehearted care, and an unexpected sense of peace welled up deep in her heart.

She always believed she was independent enough to never rely on anyone.

But at this moment, watching him build such a warm, safe place just for her under the stars, she finally knew how reassuring it felt to be loved and taken good care of.

All sounds outside the tent faded into complete silence soon afterward. Sebastian finished tidying everything up and climbed back inside. He brought in the fresh cool scent of grass and night dew, which instantly balanced out the slightly warm air inside the tent, warmed by the small heater.

They did a quick wash–up and lay down side by side on the spacious mattress.

There was a transparent skylight built into the top of the tent. All they needed to do was look up, and they could see the endless, brilliant starry sky totally free from city light pollution.

Riley kept her eyes wide open. All the tiredness that had built up earlier vanished without a trace.

Sensing that she was still awake, Sebastian stretched out his strong arm and gently wrapped it around her shoulders.
